Maybe ghost are other?

I recently lost my son and my brother within a year of each other and I really enjoy listening to these humorouss books that make me believe that their ghosts may still be around and that when I talk to them they may actually hear me.

Heartwarming Holiday Ghost-Hunter Style

Verity and Frankie are enjoying their own simply holiday festivities of baking Christmas Cookies and decorating the old family home when a ghost they met through their previous case, Major Jackson stops by needing a favor.

He wants to propose to his ghostly sweetheart and wishes to give her the opal necklace his mother promised him when he took a bride. Unfortunately, he and his mother had a falling out when he signed up to fight for the North and he came from a family of Southerners. Verity wants to help so in the guise of a catering server for her friend, she and Frankie attend Major Jackson's descendants' Christmas party at the old family mansion. Verity discovers things are not as the ghost described and she is determined to make it a Merry Christmas all around.

This shorty in the Southern Ghost Hunter series was a heartwarming holiday edition to the series. It's fun to have Verity and Frankie banter their way through another ghostly assignment that has a touch of romance.

Tavia Gilbert's narration of the story just made it even better.

All-round enjoyable quick short story between the larger novels of the series. I would recommend getting it after book two so the ongoing plot thread makes more sense.

A short story with plenty of plot

Another great listen in this series. You get an interesting plot and plenty of action without feeling like the book should have been longer. It's comforting to know that Verity and Frankie are on the job!

Ghost of a Chance is book 2.5 in the Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries series. This is a cozy mystery told in 1st person POV for main character Verity Long. This book is a quick read/listen at only 54 pages or 1 hour and 3 minutes.

The series is about a woman named Verity who unknowingly cleans out a man named Frankie's ashes from an old vase looking jar into her rosebushes and it traps his ghost on her property allowing him to only leave when Verity takes his urn off the property. The ghost, Frankie, shows himself to her and so begins her ability to see ghosts.

In this book, Matthew, a ghost that we met in the last book, needs some help. He reaches out to Verity to help get his mother's necklace back so that he can give it to Josephine, a ghost that we met in the first book.

I really enjoyed the historical aspect that these books have been giving since the ghosts we have met are not the newly deceased.

I'm not sure if I would have enjoyed reading this book as much as I enjoyed listening to it. The narrator really injects a lot of emotion into her reading and she really sells the suspense and fear. She did a really good job. Her voices were distinct and clear and her pronunciation was good. The audio editing was off in one place in chapter 13 where you could tell that it was pieced together and a word was partially cut off.

So far, I recommend this series!
