Publisher's summary

One year ago, Captain Jake Mahegan led a Delta Force team into Afghanistan to capture an American traitor working for the Taliban. The mission ended in tragedy. The team was infiltrated and decimated by a bomb. An enemy prisoner was killed. Mahegan was dismissed from service - dishonored forever.

Now, haunted by the incident, Mahegan is determined to clear his name. The military wants him to stand down. But when the American Taliban returns to domestic soil - headed by the traitor who ruined his life - Mahegan is the only man who knows how to stop him. Outside the law. Under the radar. Out for vengeance...

Smart/Sophisticated

This is 100 % Mark Greany 'Grey Man' good with adult sophistication in that it's not like several juvenile authors I've suffered in this genre... thank you sir! I like the story, the characters, and the narrator.

4.5 Stars Action Packed Book A Bargain @$10.08

This is the first time I have listened to an A.J. Tata book. But if you love Flynn, Thor, Silva, Berenson, Coes, you will love "Foreign & Domestic". The book was impossible to put down until I read the Acknowledgments -- Without giving any "spoilers", Jake Mahegan and his Delta Force team are on a special assignment to locate the "American Taliban" in Afghanistan. The mission goes horribly wrong and Jake's best friend is killed and the target escapes. Jake comes back to the U.S. where he is targeted for the unlawful killing of a POW by an ambitious three-star general. Jake is living off of the grid in coastal NC and meets a pretty woman who is a part-time deputy, part time historian and researcher about the areas American Indian and early settler history. Jake is located by the Feds and the book takes off from there. He cannot tell who is friend and who is the enemy. The plot involves stolen highly secret weapon technology, "ghost" prisoners, and civil war gold. I can't recommend this book highly enough. I am looking forward to listening to his other books.

Jonathan Davis was very skilled with the delivery of the story.

Great narration of mediocre novel!

Although I listen to some of them the military sub-genre of mystery/thrillers is far from my favorite because they often sacrifice strong plots for more contrived action. Foreign and Domestic does not have excessive contrived action, but its plot could be stronger. It is a worthwhile mystery/thriller but is not outstanding in any way. except for Jonathan Davis' narration.

Like nails on a chalkboard

I thought this book was close to being done when I realized there was almost 4 hours left to go.

I don't know where to start. I don't want my review to be just as annoying as this book was

Way too many details. Repetitive details at that.

We'll start and finish with the fact that this was way too coincidental of a book. Swimming out and finding a dead body, Then finding ties to the same weapons that killed your friend.??? Come on man.

Sentences that drove me crazy - "Well placed sniper shot" If they were well placed sniper shots - You'd be dead

Chaotic - Unorganized- Etc

Done

But I wanted to like it!

I only made it through the first 3 chapters. Too many things that didn't make sense. A device which is turned on by a cell phone, that needs a military signal to turn on a light beam trigger? Why need the military signal part if the cell signal is getting through??
The hero communes with wolves?
The military guy that sees a form for concrete curbing and realizes that it's actually a roadside bomb?
Heck, the suicide bomber out on khakis, which were blue jeans when he blew himself up.
Too many things that just were not making sense.
And I paid for this book to listen while I drive. I wanted to like it!

Very fast pace story

Who new that one could pack this much action over the course of three days! Jake Mahegan is definitely the guy you want on your side in a fight!
If you like Tom Clancy or Robert Ludlum, you will love AJ Tata. He's a fantastic author. I'm on my way to get the sequel...

Worth a read

This is the first time I read anything by Tata. After I bought it, I looked up the author and saw he was a Fox and Friends regular. Almost returned it then.

I am glad I didn’t. Good story, likable characters. Tata is definitely in my repeat author category. I am glad my prejudice didn’t stop me from enjoying a new author.
