Publisher's summary

First Counsel: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience!

White House lawyer Michael Garrick has a relatively anonymous position at a very public address. That is, until he starts dating Nora Harston (secret service code name: Shadow), the sexy and dangerously irresistible daughter of the President. But the confident young attorney thinks he can handle the pressure. Until, out on a date, Nora and Michael see something they shouldn't. To protect her, he admits to something he shouldn't. And when a body is discovered and Michael is the suspected killer, he finds himself on the run. Now, in a world where power is an aphrodisiac and close friends carry guns and are under strict orders to risk their lives, Michael must find a way to prove his innocence.

Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration so that listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

Very enjoyable with a blindsided twist.

You will never see it coming. Great listen if you enjoy thrillers. The only negative I have was that the background sounds, no matter how subtle, we're distracting.

Best from a great author

I've read or listened to quite a few of Brad Meltzer's books and have to say that I believe this to be his best.

Another good one

Really liked the plot. Always learn more from Meltzer’s books then anything else. Good plot. Good setting.

Characters Ruin the Book

The characters in this book are not believable. So many instance where you just scream at them to not be so stupid.
As well this is my second book by this author. I know characters have to be developed as well as the story line but there is just way too much wasted “story” in his writing. This is my last book by him

Solid performance on story and execution

I love Brad Meltzer's books. He's one of my favorites. His books build their characters superbly and you feel close to them. Scott Brick is my favorite narrator. The combination is a really good story and a joy to listen to.

Not just a good mystery

Not just a good mystery but also an in-depth characterization of the worst & best of mankind.

Not a favorite

Character of Michael flies off the handle too much for me because it takes away his obvious critical thinking.

MAKE THE MUSIC AND SOUND EFFECTS STOP!

OK story, good narration, awful back ground noise during the ENTIRE book!
