DC Scott Cullen finds himself investigating two decades-old cases when a mangled body is found in a barrel of aged Dunpender Distillery whisky.

An interesting story

But, man, that Baine is such a pain. His sexism is so beyond what is tolerable today, it is hard to stomach. Somebody demote him PLEASE! A technical comment: the narrator’s soft voice is nice but is hard to hear sometimes even at full volume on my phone. I know the range between Baine’s screaming and Cullen’s quiet musings is wide but surely a sound tech could have adjusted the level to compensate.

Not up to previous quality

3.5 stars rounded up.

I have enjoyed the previous books in this series. I had a hard time getting interested in this one. The characters were all flat and not enjoyable. The story was decent and the narration was good. And I really like the author's Fenchurch series. This is what bumped my rating up by half a star.

I'm sorry the rest of this series is not available on Audible.

good narrator.

Cullen is a bit of a whining guy, and Bain seems quite rational, by his standards, in this one. good story, but easy to guess the killer!! wierd sex scene with a lot of detail about rollung sperm in a knotted condom
