Publisher's summary

What are the chances...that convicted killer Sam Blue is innocent of the serial murders of three young women? Detective Harriet Blue is certain that her brother is incapable of having committed these horrific crimes. Determined to clear his name, no matter the cost to her career, Harry attends Sam's hearing. The outburst she unleashes earns her a reassignment - to the Outback.

What are the chances...that Harry has landed in a town where the population of 75 is in the sights of a seasoned killer? A diary found on the roadside outlines a shocking plan: the massacre of the entire town. And the first murder, shortly after Harry's arrival, suggests that the clock is already ticking.

What are the chances...that meanwhile, back in Sydney, a young woman holds the key to crack Harry's brother's case wide open? If only she could escape the madman holding her hostage....

What are the chances...that you'll be able to pause this relentless thriller - that continues the series that began with the instant number one New York Times and USA Today best seller Never Never? Less than zero.

Good story, Horrid narration!

What did you love best about Fifty Fifty?

Exciting story with well developed characters. I was surprised at nearly every turn.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Federay Holmes?

Anyone! She has the most annoying Australian accent I ever heard. The story was great but this is easily the worst narration I have ever encountered.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. It wasn't that compelling.

Great read!

Really enjoyed the story. Well written and narrated. Seems to be the first in a new series, at least that is what I am hoping.

Narrator is horrible!

Federay Holmes is an Australian actress and her narration is so bland. Not a monotone, but not a lot of inflection. I don't know, maybe that is the normal pattern of speech in Australia and I'm just not used to it. I may give it one more try, but the story line on this one is "mey."

Too much of an accent

I loved the opening scene, but after that the narrator's Australian accent is too much. I liked Patterson's writing and understand they want to be true to the story, but I lost interest quickly and didn't even finish. I am unable to endure the accent! Please listen to a sample before purchasing.

James Patterson, This Book Does Not Do You Credit

What would have made Fifty Fifty better?

I don't know what it means for James Patterson to write a book with another author. Is he writing the book with the other author, or is the other author writing it with Patterson's name to make it sell.? At any rate, this one makes me want to stop reading his books written with other authors. The book drags and drags. I'm going to finish it simply because I hate to put a book down and I've used one of my precious credits on it. I always think it'll get better. But I'm on Chapter 115 of 133 and I'm still trying to get over the drag. In addition, the narrator has a heavy Australian accent and her voice has little emotion or acting ability. Mr Patterson, pay attention to your second authors. You're losing this faithful follower.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Haven't finished it yet and may not because I'm bored, bored, bored.

How could the performance have been better?

Cut it in half because there's not enough to it to go the length it has. Get a different narrator.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No

I struggled to get through this book.

this book was a confusing mess. It jumped from one episode to another episode and it was hard to keep up with the Australian accent. I am very disappointed in this book.

Difficult to Understand

Due to the Aussie dialect, it was very difficult for me to hear the words and follow the story kine.

Good read

I am enjoying this new series. I do find that the chapters are so short, but it’s still a good read/listen.

Monotone delivery

I have listened to so many audible books and love James Patterson’s writing. However the audible performance of this book was so monotone that it was very hard to follow. Did not keep my interest as it should have and missed a lot of the story because I would daydream instead of staying engaged. Not fair to rate story.
