Publisher's Summary

Love hurts. FBI agent Kelly Feinman knows this is true. While she is recovering from an attack by a serial killer called the "Acid Man," her husband leaves her. Physically and emotionally scarred by the murderer, Kelly feels she will never be the same. She is cut off not only from her husband and child, but also from her fellow FBI agents, who see her as a rogue for going after the Acid Man alone.

Love is hell. Matt Connor knows this is true. His love for his girlfriend, Amy, is so intense that he feels he is in heaven when he is with her. When Amy leaves him for another man, Matt is shattered. In agony, he plans a diabolical scheme that first calls for him to disappear from the face of the earth. His revenge will make Amy wish she had never been born.

Love can heal. Matt's act of vengeance puts him in charge of Amy's infant son. He discovers a soothing warmth in Jimmy's eyes that makes him wonder if Amy's betrayal truly merited wrecking the child's life. Yet Matt's heart cannot be made whole until he has won Amy back.

Kelly cannot be made whole until she understands the depth of evil that lurks behind the Acid Man. Ironically, to rid herself and the world of her nemesis, she must seek out Matt Connor, a wanted man she has been ordered to bring to justice.

In Falling, Christopher Pike explores the depth and breadth of human emotion through two brilliantly etched characters: Kelly Feinman, who pays a terrible price to understand the nature of true evil, and Matt Connor, a classic antihero who captures the listener's sympathy. The listener is drawn deeply into the hearts and minds of these two people, who almost against our will force us to face our deepest fears. It is that power that makes Falling impossible to forget.

Critic Reviews

"Falling is full of challenging characters for the narrator....William Dufris handles these opportunities well. Fast-paced conversations requiring quick vocal switches are no problem for him; neither are tense scenes in which he picks up the tempo." (AudioFile)

Wow! One of the best thrillers...

... that I've read/listened to in a long time. FALLING is a classic thriller with very well developed characters and deep insights into human souls. The first two very long chapters introduce both protagonists carefully while being little thrillers in their own right, before the storylines become entwined and the thrilling fun begins for real.

A great story, fantastic pace, and a wonderful performance by narrator William Dufris.

Disappointing

There is not a single character in this book who acts rationally. As it is it is impossible to relate to any of the main characters. This may have worked in a book half this length but I simply didn't care about anyone by the end of the book. Add in that many of the situations I found to be nearly unbelievable and there were many times I wondered if it was worth the time to find out how it ended. Christopher Pike was recommended to me so I may try another but this book was a disappointment.

It was painful

I grew up reading Christopher Pike, so he has a soft spot in my heart. I should have lived in the sweet memories....this book is just horrible. It is vulgar--the use of cursing made the dialogue seem cheap. The characters where unlikable and by the end of the book, I could care less what happened. I had to made myself finish the book, hoping against hope it would redeem itself. Ugh. I wasted my time, my money, and I am pretty sure, several brain cells.

I absolutely loved this story! Pike has duch an amazing talent for creating unforgettable characters that just suck you in. I had a hard time turning my phone off to sleep because I wanted to listen until it was over.

I loved Christopher Pike when I was younger!

I read all of Christopher Pike's books when I was younger. Between the ages of 12-17 he was my favoirte authoer... and then I kind of grew out of him. I stopped anticipating his new releases and moved on to Stephen King books.

I was both excited and hesitant to download this book because I have such fond memories of Christopher Pike. Not only did this book NOT disappoint me at all, but I am plesantly surprised that it was an amazing read!! There were so many aspects to this story and it kept me interested the whole time.

If you were a fan of Christopher Pike when you were younger, you MUST read this! Even if you weren'f a fan, I feel like anyone who appreciates these mystery/murder novels would enjoy it. I will purchase more books from him if he continues to release them so I guess I'm a hooked life long reader now! And I could not be more excited to have a new/ old author to add to my library. Maybe Christopher Pike will become my go-to author again! I'm considering him "re-discovered"!

I would also like to add that the narrator of this book did an excellent job with the voices and keeping you generally engaged with the story. All around, this book is in my top 3 favorite audible books ever! It had everything: the story, the narrator and the suspense necessary to get me through my agonizing commute!

I LOVED IT!

One of the Best Thrillers ever! I thought that Christopher Pike did a fantastic job of telling the story with these two characters. Great Complex rich characters with a brillant plotline. Despite the story and the end result, I really loved this book
