Disappointed...

I truly love much of Ted Dekker's writing. He's given me scores of hours of listening pleasure. While this one didn't suck, it also just didn't resonate with me. I found the story to lack action and intrigue and even dialogue...mired in thoughts and observations. The general premise is interesting, but I didn't find the whole story to hold my interest (although I did slog through), although there were definitely places where it was pretty good. I wouldn't be interested in hearing more from this series...but based on his track record, I will still buy most anything Dekker releases.

Regarding the narrator, Philip Hodges has a decent voice and is a somewhat capable reader, but he's very inconsistent and sloppy. He needed a producer holding his feet to the fire to make his performance what it should have been. As it was, I found his sloppiness distracting and felt that it detracted from the story...whereas a narrator should at worst be transparent, if they are unable to enhance the story.

enjoyed the book. fantastic characteriztio n as usual. not clear who OUTLAW is suppose to be. But I would hesitate to recommend the book or read it again. Thanks!!

I like anything Dekker, but this one did not feel like a full story by itself (more like a sub-story of another book) Had a few nice twists and began really well. Got muddy in the middle, with an 'aha!' at the end. A few references to other books kept it interesting, but you would not have any idea of there connection unless you have read several of his other books. If I was introducing a new reader to Ted Dekker, I certainly would avoid this one until after a few other of his series.

Intense drama surrounds the characters while as readers,we share their pain. This, only to discover that freedom from their confinement lies in the power to see with eyes wide open to transcendent truth.

Great book with a wonderful twist.

I really enjoyed the book. it was very interesting and how it displayed choosing God and the light. I found it very complex with a fun twist

love Ted Dekker

I love Ted Dekker and how his books make me think harder about my faith. I love the worlds he creates. I didn't really like this reader. His style made it hard for me to get into the book... his inflections and tone didn't seem to match the storyline.

Boring...

we struggled to finish the book. I was hard to follow much of the time, and the ending want much of an ending. I think the author just wanted to.... tell everyone how smart he was!?? not sure

I think so, because it's a bit of mind bender and sometimes they are fun to read/listen to again

Great book, decent climax, kinda fun how the ending ties into another (several other) series of Ted Dekker - though if you've never read Showdown it probably makes little sense.

As always a great read! Super exciting story thay definitely keeps you hooked! Ted Dekker never disappoints :)
