Publisher's summary

Clare's been hired to create a gourmet coffee and dessert bar for a New York wedding to be held at the world-renowned Metropolitan Museum of Art. Famous chefs will be there, celebrities, members of the press, well-known politicians - so why isn't she thrilled to have this chance to shine? Because the person tying the knot is Matteo Allegro, her ex-husband and current business partner. And while Clare has no plans to ever marry Matt again, she's afraid he's making a terrible mistake.

The bride-to-be is Trend magazine editor Breanne Summour. Beautiful, wealthy, and sophisticated, the snarky tastemaker has never been a low maintenance kind of gal, and now she's in full-blown bridezilla mode. The only way that Clare can possibly deal with her is to put her misgivings aside and focus on buisness. But as a successful amateur sleuth, murder is Clare's business, too. And when fatal accidents begin befalling people close to Breanne, Clare becomes suspicious. Is someone trying to sabotage the wedding? To kill Breanne? Between persuading a sexy Italian sculptor into lending her a one-of-a-kind fountain and roasting some of the rarest coffee beans on Earth, Clare starts to investigate. But what she unveils, amid melted chocolate and steaming mochaccinos, may just get her burned....

This author is excellent

I am sometimes really impressed actually repeatedly impressed with who is the one that is guilty of the bad guy but more important all the cool things I learned from cooking to coffee to actually social skills and understanding that we are all imperfect and we could all be kinder to those around us by understanding each other better

Enjoyable story, mediocre narration

The Coffeehouse Mysteries series is an enjoyable way to pass some time. Great snowy afternoon binge. I’ve learned about coffee and cooking through these books - you can practically smell these scenes. I make pasta sauce recipe (I think in book 1). I picked this one at random for my first Audible version. The narration was fine but not particularly engaging, and I think Claire’s ex-mother-in-law is from France but seems to have a British accent here?

I think I’ll stick to the print/Kindle version unless a long afternoon of baking is ahead of me.

Well done

The plot was well thought out and the story reflects the excellent writing style MS Coyle possesses. the narrator was well prepared and sounded as if she was having a great time reading and expressing emotions through out the book. congratulations MS Gibel on a job well done. the descriptions of scenes, styles and beautiful works were outstanding. the characters were mostly likable and relatable. well deserving of 5 stars

one of her best

Would you listen to Espresso Shot again? Why?

The story line was compelling and never failed to keep me interested. The development of the story had many twists and turns, and slowly merged the varying plot lines to a plausible solution. I also enjoyed the passages about NYC today, since I live 3,000 miles away but grew up in southern Westchester Co and I love the city still.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Claire's character has evolved in this installment (#7) into a more professional amateur detective and her persona is even more interesting.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I definitely wanted to listen in one sitting and having a bad chest cold made that almost possible. I'll definitely listen again.

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this book.

love them all, cozy entertainment

discovered this via the membership free listens. The coffee references make for a nice side to the main of the story. When I listen to books to purely entertain (mostly during cleaning and prep work in the kitchen) I like the story to be easy to follow but still be interesting enough to make time fly by. Spot on.
