Meet US Marine Captain Brooke Grant!

Duplicity is a really good political/military suspense thriller. It is Book 1 in the three novel Brooke Grant series. Brooke's parents died in the World Trade Center on 9/11/2001 when she was in her mid-teens. She was then taken in by her dad's brother and his wife. Her uncle, who is very protective of her despite her objections, is US Army General Frank Grant who serves in the US government as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The novel occurs during a US presidential election with incumbent president Sally Allworth being challenged by the very wealthy governor of Florida. In a political decision President Allworth opens a US embassy in war torn Somalia. The decision has rather dire consequences for the US and especially for Captain Brooke Grant and the US diplomatic mission members, The antagonist of the entire series is an a Islamic militant leader known only as The Falcon.

Robert Fass narrates the first two novels in this series and Eric Martin narrates the third. Both a quite good, but Martin is better.

Good

I thought the main character, the woman, a bit too headstrong at inappropriate times. Mist of the Tim I liked her, but sometimes she really grated on me.
The story was entertaining and kept me interested. If a sequel was written I would get it.

Good story reminds me of Mitch Rapp or Gabriel A.

I enjoyed this book very much. I have not read Newt Gingrich lately. I'm going to buy the next one in the series.

An Engaging Thiller With Historic Context

Excellently developed characters set in a present day novel about terrorism and the politics of Washington D.C. The authors add enough historic background to make the book even more realistic. The reader, Robert Fass, does wonderful work in adding distinct voices to portray each charter. Thanks to his reading, I was never confused as to which character was speaking. All in all a very satisfying ``read.''

Duplisity

Great story line. One of the best stories I have ever encounterd, bit remorseful when it ended.

Really Terrific!

I really enjoyed this book. The story and characters were believable and I thought the narrator did a great job. This is my first Newt Gingrich book and I'm going to download his first one. This was really fun to read right after the 2016 presidential election; I felt like I got a bit of insight into the nastiness and deceptions that go on in Washington daily. This story takes place just days before a presidential election (and do the campaign coordinators get dirty!).

Just for the record, I never want to be president, Director is the CIA, FBI, NSA or any other governmental agency--yuck!

This is a good read and you'll go away with more insight into Jihadist thinking (and how scary that is) as well as what a threat to non-radical Islam nations they are.

Hard to put down

This book was harder to put down than a Michael Crichton novel. I thought at first that a political novel might be a little sleepy and boring but not this one. There was great action from the first chapter and stayed that way through the entire book. Also this isn't a book that tries to sell Republican ideas but seemed to focus on a more serious problem that our country is facing. This is a must read for every American regardless of your political stance.

A case of bad reader butchering a story.

The feeble reader destroyed the carefully structured characters. It was painful to listen to his failed attempts at vocalising different characters while missing the point.

Good storyline. Interesting read.

Characters were developed and interesting. Storyline flowed and allowed suspense. Narration was clear and easy to listen to.
