Publisher's summary

When Stone Barrington embarks on a trip to Bel-Air to check in on some business and personal concerns, he expects a relaxing break from the fast pace and mean streets of New York. But trouble never takes a vacation, and it has a way of finding Stone. A case that had seemingly been resolved has returned in full force - with lethal results. And this deadly situation makes for strange bedfellows when Stone finds himself teamed with the least likely ally…a gentleman of unique abilities, who can fly below the radar and above the law.

From the high-stakes poker tables of Las Vegas to California's lush beachside resorts, the trail of disguise, subterfuge, and murder leads to a shocking conclusion.

Critic reviews

“The nonstop action is certain to keep fans turning pages.” (Kirkus Reviews)

"Longtime Woods fans who have seen Teddy [Fay] evolve from a villain to something of a lovable antihero will enjoy watching the former enemies work together in this exciting yarn. Is this the beginning of a beautiful partnership? Let’s hope so.” (Booklist)

"Stone - wealthy, handsome, and suave - displays a father’s ruthless streak...while Fay brings a welcome gritty edge to this crowd-pleasing series.” (Publishers Weekly)

Typical Stuart Wood! FLAWLESS!

Another well told Stone Barrington novel. I like how Woods is beginning to add the kids in so they can maybe take over the series in the future.

My review of doing hard time.

It grabbed me from the very beginning and didn’t let go till the very end. By far one of the best books.

Yeah for Teddy Fay.

What did you like best about this story?

This was the best Stone Barrington I have listened to in awhile. The last have seem fairly absurd with the plot lines. Not that this one isn't a bit far-fetched at times, but the reintroduction of Teddy Fay made the intrigue more engaging.

Stone and the gang are at it again...

Would you listen to Doing Hard Time again? Why?

Mos def!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dino is and always will be my favorite!

What does Tony Roberts bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Since I've become accustom to his voice I now have pictures in my head for all the characters voices.
