Publisher's summary

The latest enthralling case in Tess Gerritsen's New York Times bestselling Rizzoli & Isles series, the blockbuster books behind the smash hit TNT series.

Boston Detective Jane Rizzoli is on the case of a big game hunter found dead in his apartment, alone with the body of a beautiful white snow leopard he had recently been commissioned to procure and stuff for a high-profile museum in the area. Medical examiner Maura Isles connects the case to a number of seemingly unrelated deaths where the victims have all been found hanging upside down, the hallmark of a leopard's kill. Rizzoli follows the puzzling trail of clues all the way to Botswana, where she uncovers the unsolved mystery of a deadly camping safari four years prior. When she realizes the two cases are connected, Rizzoli must track down the sole survivor of the tragic trip to discover who - or what - is behind these gruesome deaths.

OK story, but narration is not good.

The story is okay, but not one of Gerritsen's best. And I did not guess the ending, which is good. The reviewer who said do not listen while eating was right. The narrator was a bad choice for this particular story. If you have characters from several countries, you need a narrator who can do accents as well as male and female parts.

A Miss For Me...

I really like this series, but this one fell a little short for me and I had a hard time staying attached to the storyline.

A bit slow to start, not what I expected

The reviews were great for this audiobook so my expectations were high. But it dragged at the beginning and it wasn't all that engaging. Many books I listen to, i just can't stop listening when I start. This wasn't one of those. And does anyone else notice how much Tess Gerretson betrays all men horribly? Throughout this book there were multiple references to how men can't be trusted and how wives are so often victims of abuse, and it wasn't relevant to the story. Just a strange aside by the author.

Good but not great.

The storyline bounced back, and forth between Boston, and Africa. I found this device compelling. My biggest problem was the reader inability of handling accents. There were Bostonians, Africans of several with different backgrounds, as well a English, and European. All read with a standard American accent.

The reader is a real distraction

it was hard to enjoy this book as I had to work very hard figuring out who was speaking. The reader did not have enough range of characters to make it easy to differentiate between them.

Unique and interesting

This is the first time I have listened to this authors books. Interesting story line. She did a good job of integration the back story to the present.

I was impressed

Any additional comments?

As a South African, I found the author's depiction of Africa, South Africa and the South African people excellent. I don't know how long she spent in South Africa and Botswana researching her book, but well done! Apart from using 'Afrikaans' names, like Jannie, the author also utilised the South African lingo accurately. The term "going on safari" is used by visitors to Africa. South Africans say they are "going to the bush". I was impressed.

Gory and Terrifying Murder Mystery

OMG…so glad to have gone back into Rizzoli and Isle’s world….I so missed them. I pray that Tess Gerritsen will write another…I NEED MORE!

I was so wrong on all my theories…and the kicker is that there were two or three clues right in our faces, but like the detectives I missed it too! Love when a book truly has me stumped…such great writing.
