Publisher's summary

In the third book of her Logan McKenna mystery thriller series, Amazon best-selling author Valerie Davisson brings Logan back home to the laid-back southern California coastal town of Jasper.

It's summer and with a new job, a new love, and plenty of time for her music, life couldn't be better. Logan and her daughter, Amy who is home from Africa, even rescue an orphaned sea otter pup and help nurse it back to health at the Southern Sea Otter Center.

But powerful storm clouds soon swirl around the center and threaten the lives of all who touch it. More than one person lays claim to the property. Each wants it badly and for very different reasons.

With no resolution in sight, death soon dominates the calendar, exposing deep layers of deceit, greed, and painful personal loss. The sharks in the water are dangerous, but the predators on land are more numerous and deadly.

Only love, trust, and community have any hope of stopping the killing before more lives, including her own, are lost.

Devil's Claw is an emotional ride illuminating what we value and for what we're willing to fight.

Excellent

An elderly gentleman leaves a parcel, which causes an upheavel in many lives. Is it the half syblings who are claiming the same lot, or otihers who come to claim. A widowed school teacher and her daughter are now here from Africa. A story filled with greed, jealous and a good plot, and series. Given audio of which narration was good for my honest review

Interesting

I was hooked from the beginning. The narrator and story work well together. I have not read or listened to the others in this series but I did not find I was missing anything.
It is a really good mystery. Looking forward to reading/listen to other books by this author.

Captivating Listen!

This is my first book by Valerie Davisson that I have listened to and I was amazed. How can anyone not love a story featuring a baby sea otter, suspense, greed, and so much more. I was pulled into the book from the very beginning. The imagery is spectacular. I loved the twists in the book and was surprised by some of them. This book is a standalone listen and part of a series. Leonor A Woodworth added to my enjoyment of the story with her distinguished voices. I requested this review copy audiobook and have willingly written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Compelling listen, intriguing intertwined subplots

I wondered what to expect from this title and found it referenced the land formation at the site of the California Southern Sea Otter Center where Logan and her daughter Amy spend some of their time. Intrigue, switching perspectives, keeps the listener wondering from the first pages (for I had not read the previous title in this series, but I'd like to). Compelling narrative is intricately woven to employ issues of our day including mineral rights deeds, immigration and deportation, controversial cancer treatments in foreign lands, and the needs which compel one’s choices. Devil's Claw illustrates efforts to save endangered sea otters. This is a fascinating narrative, creatively voiced by Leonor Woodworth. I highly recommend this audio book for which I received a free copy and offer this honest review.
