Awesome Book

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, then spin you through numerous plot twists, all while exploring a fantastic world of his own making. Don't pass this one up!

It's not what it seems

The story was very engaging. Part SciFi part mystery. If I found any fault with it it was with the narrator. His female voices and the chinese accent left much to be desired. But overall very enjoyable.

Abyss the book.....lame

Watch the movie "the abyss" same as this book but the movie is good. Author seems to have taken most of the plot and story line and just used it in his book.

Loved this book!

The author has a very imaginative mind, that takes the reader to another world, and the narrator adds to that out of this world kind of book. This book makes the reader wonder to what is happening next. I would recommend this book to anyone.

A listen that you don't want to put down. Very entertaining.

Too many Twists and Turns

No spoiler here as the story begins with the protagonist (Peter Crane) believing he is being brought in as a consultant due to the discovery of Atlantis. Highly unlikely, considering the location and all the myths about that civilization. Child tries to string a strange storyline into massive amounts of unusual and highly "stretched" technology. In parts, the story is very intense and moves quickly. In other places, it is clunky and does not work well, and the ending, while predictable, really is too far fetched to go along with the conclusions. Scott Brick does his usual good job of narration, but he is also hampered by the somewhat broken story.

Just Good

I enjoyed the book. The story is inventive and as usual with Child's work, I found myself visualizing everything. The storyline was a bit too easy to predict and I had to work at not guessing ahead. Worth a credit but not great.

Very imaginative but.

A good story but I find his descriptions overly elaborate. What could be said in a sentence takes up paragraph.

An entertaining if familar read

I have to agree with some of the other reviewers that the plot line is a bit familiar, but I disagree in their thinking that that detracts from the book. After all, the best stories I know are also some of the most predictable, and they often follow the same time-tested paths to the end.

I admit, though, that this one had trouble pulling me in. With some of Child's other novels, I was pulled in right away, but this one needed some more time. Once I was hooked, however, I was hooked pretty well.

And there were some interesting twists, but they were subtle character or relationship surprises more so than major plot twists, which I actually appreciate more.

And I found the true nature of what they found under the sea to be unique and imaginative, and I really enjoyed the final interpretations by some of the characters.

I continue to be a reader of Child's and of his collaborations with Preston, and I've never been disappointed. Deep Storm may not be my favorite of Child's novels, but it was an enjoyable listen and more thought provoking than it appears on the surface.
