I love a great series!

Where does Death Song rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

In my humble opinion, there is no better narrator than George Guidall and he's perfect to read the Kevin Kerney series! I may have inadvertently started with the 11th book of the series, but now I'm hooked and plan to "begin at the beginning." I'm anxious to read the prequel, Hard Country, to find out just where Kevin Kerney comes from. This series is definitely worth the read!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

There were so many treads and more than once I was truly caught off guard!

Have you listened to any of George Guidall’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I often pick a book simply because George Guidall is the reader.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Movies almost never compliment a book so I'd avoid making a movie of these books. I would not want to ruin an excellent set of stories.

Another Hit!

Where does Death Song rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Probably around the top 20.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Death Song?

The snow storm and the when they were closing in on a suspect. A good description and feel for what it is like to work in and around the very bad weather that can happen in New Mexico.

Which scene was your favorite?

The scenes between Kevin and his Srgt. Este.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There was a death near the end that was so sad and avoidable. All the wrong choices led up to it and it affected everyone.

Enjoyable Story

Well focused and well told, this story makes sense but could have been better resolved at the end.

quick finish

the story was good, but the ending came as if the author ran out of time and just threw in a finish without explaining much about the murderer and motives. I would have expected more of a conclusion.

Disappointing ending

What started out as an engrossing story about a black ops type bad guy killing cops and civilians ended up so anti-climatically that I swore off this author forever. It was like the publisher decided the book was getting too long, so the last couple of chapters that described specifically the personality and motivations of the evildoer were chopped off. Too much in-depth description of trivia also bloated this mediocre police procedural.

Wish it had an ending

I really enjoy the stories but the last several books have had NO ENDING. If Mr McGarrity would spend a tenth of the time on the ending that he spends on on devising a great plot it would be a five star book for sure. As is I can not recommend this book. The only reason that I would buy another of his books would be just to hearMr. Guidall's wonderful performance!

My last McGarrity book

Any additional comments?

If this book had been a print version, I would have thrown it across the room after getting to the final page. McGarrity seems to have a consistent problem with endings--after intense suspense, the books consistently end in a big anticlimax with many strings left hanging. A major factor in this one was that the suspect needed to be a world-class computer hacker, capable of not only deleting emails and phone records from the source, but also from the commercial backup systems. No consideration of this in the ending when the arrest was of someone with little or no computer abilities.
