Publisher's Summary

Anne Mason thinks she'll be safe living in the Midwest building a wind farm. She may be dead wrong. Someone is dumping bodies in her corn field and telling Anne they are gifts - for her! As the body count rises, Anne realizes a cold-blooded serial killer is patiently waiting and watching her every move. And he won't stop until he ends her life. It is clear there are no limits to this killer's thirst for revenge or how far he will go to get it.

After a nasty divorce, Anne Mason does not want to get romantically involved, especially with ex-husband's attorney, Michael Brandt. The ruggedly handsome new county prosecutor is the last person Anne can trust, but may offer her only chance at survival from a psychopathic killer. But will she survive the passion that rages between them?

Any additional comments?

This was on my to be read/listened to shelf for years, what was I thinking leaving it there so long, I really enjoyed this book/listen the pace was great the story kept me interested and Lorelei Avalon's performance was great, the Heroine got on my nerves but that's just the signed of a great book if a character in a book ticks you off then you know its good and you are invested.

horrible narrative

I really enjoyed the book so I got the audible. mistake! it was as if she was sitting in the back row during church talking to her neighbor. monotone. no inflection. low, husky 'just woke up' voice. awful. it's unfortunate because another narrator would have really brought this book to life.

Lots of Twists and Turns

Pretty good book. There were many intriguing situations and the characters interacted well. I enjoyed reading it and look forward to the next book in the series.

Horrible narration

The narration ruined the book. It was hard to concentrate on the plot because the reading was distracting.

Bored

This book is extremely shallow and read somewhat monotone. The main character isn't very likeable, she is mean to the love interest, and the love interest keeps coming back for more. I just found this book unbelievable and not very suspenseful.

Mixed emotions

I have really mixed emotions about this book. On the one hand the basic plot line appealed to me, but on the other hand, I did not like the characters I was supposed to like.
Anne Mason-Long is annoying. She is so self-centred, wanting to do everything herself. I get that her lying ex-husband damaged her trust in people BUT REALLY?!
Michael Brandt is a borderline stalker. His overbearing protectiveness became almost as annoying as her pushing him away when she really wants him.
Thank goodness for Frankie and Lane. This is really a case of the supporting cast stealing the show.
The dangerous threat and the identity of the killer made for good reading till the end.
