Publisher's Summary

Aidan Flynn, a private investigator and eldest of the Flynn brothers, scoffs at the haunted-house rumors - especially since Kendall Montgomery, a tarot card reader who has been living in the mansion, is the one to tell him the tale of a woman in white. But when he finds a human bone on the grounds and another by the river, Aidan delves into the dark history of the Flynn plantation.

Forced together to uncover the truth, Aidan and Kendall realize that a serial killer whose victims seem to vanish into thin air has long been at work...and that their own fates are about to be sealed forever unless they believe in the unbelievable.

    "Loved this. Need book 2!!!"

This book reminded me of something Karen Rose would write.
The story line is an almost even split between romance and tension and on the other side murder and mayhem.

I loved it. The characters are well formed and grow well throughout the story. The mystery and mayhem keeps you glued to the book and the result is nice and tidy.

I loved the setting and the author did an amazing job with world building.

I will definitely read the next book in this series and I suspect that this author now has a new fan.

"Another really good read from H. Graham"
What made the experience of listening to Deadly Night the most enjoyable?

As always Heather Graham writes about interesting places and people. This was a good mystery and had all the usual suspects including the ghost running for cover. Hot lead too. you will not want to miss the Flynn brothers.

    "Will read series"

This is my first Heather Graham download and I have to say, I really enjoyed this audio book. It has mystery, romance, *ghosts*, interesting characters and some twists and turns. The sexy, cranky Aidan Flynn and his two brothers Jeffrey and Zach inherit a plantation in New Orleans from an aunt they never met. In fact they never knew she even existed until they learn of their inheritance. Kendall Montgomery was the caregiver and companion in the last months of Aidan's aunt's life. Kendall stays in the house even after the aunt's death. She and Aidan at first do not like each other. They don't trust each other. Aiden thinks she has ulterior motives and Kendall does not understand how Aiden never knew he had this wonderful aunt that left him her plantation. After they get over each other, they are all over each other, sparks fly and they start a romantic relationship and begin solving a serial murder mystery together. This is a super enjoyable listen. I love mysteries, especially that take place in the south. I will be downloading book 2.

    "Felt a bit disconnected"

I wasn't exactly thrilled with this book. It really didn't seem to flow well. If this is book one then I would have expected a bit more background on the main characters then there was. I spent a lot of time with the "Huh" thought going through my head. Having the sex scenes narrated by a man and being that in depth in the description was really not something I was used to with a male narrator. Normally you get that more in the books narrated by women so that threw me off a bit. I would probably listen to another just because I want to see if they get better, but it would probably have to be on sale for me to do it.

    "Lousy Narrator!"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Maybe. The story is okay, but it's a little awkward and disjointed. It's hard to tell, however, if this is due to the way the book was written or the way it's narrated. The main character's voice is normal, but otherwise most of the men with southern accents sound either dumb or effeminate. The female voices are AWFUL and they really had a negative influence on the way I felt about the characters. All of the women sound stupid or whiny. It made the whole book very irritating to listen to. If I hadn't purchased this book as part of a $4.95 sale, I would have been pretty upset about how bad it was.

Would you be willing to try another one of Phil Gigante’s performances?

    NO!!

    "WOW! Will Keep You Guessing"

This is my first novel by Heather Graham and it certainly will not be my last.

I really enjoy a well-written story that keeps you guessing who the killer is and Heather delivered in a big way. This book is suspenseful and kept me guessing till the climax...then it was nerve-wracking to see whether or not the main character(s)l escape without scratches. Yes, I know. The logical part of my brain fervently believed they would. Both were great characters and I didn't want either to die...at least the part of my brain that believes in happy endings said. The reality is: I didn't know for sure not being acquainted with this author.

The romance built slowly, like in real life. Though there were sex scenes, they were not graphic. I really enjoyed each of the secondary characters and would love to read their stories.

Phil Gigante did a wonderful job narrating. He had a very nice way of portraying each character and building the suspense.

It was...is...a great read. I'll need to listen to it again and will definitely explore other titles by this author.

    "Mixed bag"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

I wish the characters were better developed. Aidan is brooding and Kendall, while she could have many facets, just isn't given the chance to reveal more about herself. And really, with the boys names, they are all sort of white bread names that you would get beat up in the playground for having - Jeremy, Aidan, Zachary, oh my.

Has Deadly Night turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not necessarily. I got to Heather Graham once in awhile because I enjoy a good ghost story and she does have some good plots, although she's a mediocre story teller.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Phil is only so-so when it comes to voices.

Do you think Deadly Night needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

There are two books, which I find somewhat amusing and predictable. Three brothers, three books, three ghost stories where the boys get involved with women who they initially get on the wrong side of, but eventually learn to love. In all the stories, I'm sure, the romance will be inevitable, with no mystery, except the surprising quickness of the advancement from spark to eternal flame.

    Any additional comments?

the author does a decent job of keeping your attention, and I might pick up the other two in the Flynn Brothers series if I have nothing better to listen to.
