Publisher's summary

Three related famous country and western singers are kidnapped over a period of 50 years. Only one body has ever been found.

Battling a debilitating illness, FBI agent Georgina O'Neil joins forces with newly licensed private investigator, Leroy La Portiere to find Susan Dark, the latest in the Dark family to go missing as she is on the verge of national stardom. But Georgina's search for the truth is hampered by an illness which is affecting her judgement. Is there one perpetrator or is this a series of elaborate copycat crimes?

The hunt to find Susan leads them deep into a densely forested area as they follow a bloody trail and a deadly cat and mouse pursuit that will have fatal consequences for all.

Tough gritty graphic thriller.

Do not read this book late at night alone and during a thunderstorm.

It starts slowly and takes awhile to get going but it is a wait that is satisfied by all the elements of a well written and well performed Audio book.

It has too much violence and often too much detail but it is a well done effort by the the Author.

great thriller!

I loved this audiobook. It was scary, engaging and well said. Maybe the best thriller I have listen all year, there were no big plot wholes to irritate me and I liked the characters.

Brilliant a good listen/read

Dark Country is a Brilliant book , one the best of it's genre. Full bodied characters and a plot set over 3 generations of the Dark family women.
Just when you think you've got the answers the plot twists keeping you guessing till the final pages. It is going onto my reread shelf/folder, such a complicated plot it deserves another read/listen to pick up on those subtle clues I'm sure I missed.
Narration is excellent' clear and concise with each character easily recognisable.

A story of twists and turns

Dark Country will keep your interest through the book. Just when you have things figured out— it takes a new twist or turn.

So many plot twists

This book will take you on a journey through several generations and a myriad of bad people It is not for the faint of heart. It's well-written and gripping and icky. (Pay attention to the book cover.)

There were a couple of niggling things with this listen though. The author referred to elevators as 'lifts' and used several other European phrases (like 'walk about') that took me out of the listen from time to time.

I liked the narrator but she failed in performing believable dialects - any believable dialects. Her presentation of the British writer was especially cringe-worthy.

This very dark listen is not for everyone. I don't even think it was for me.
