His love of his family is his anchor, and gives him the strength to confront evil in his work. Critic reviews

“Michael Boatman gives a first-rate narration in this latest installment in the Alex Cross series. A second narrator, Tom Wopat, artfully portrays the homicidal maniac who plans to destroy Alex by destroying his family. Boatman captures the tension in the plot and keeps the listener engaged with the action. His portrayal of a bereaved Alex Cross - voice trembling with despair - will have listeners spellbound. And his total command of the story is like a zip line to Alex's hell. Though the symphony of terror isn't over at the conclusion of the audiobook, fans of Michael Boatman will revel in his delivery of this captivating thriller.” (AudioFile Magazine)

"[Patterson's] books don't pussyfoot around when it comes to the villains. These are bad, bad people... [I, Alex Cross] is political, with a lot of intrigue in high places." (Al Roker, The Today Show)

From tragedy comes endurance!

Thank you for the final note at the end. You have a valid point about life. Sometimes things happen that you have to endure as you prepare for the next stage. Bravo!!!! Waiting with anticipation!

The first unfinished book in the Alex Cross series

Is there anything you would change about this book?

YES!! I'd finish it!!!

Would you ever listen to anything by James Patterson again?

When I am ready to forgive him for doing this, maybe.

What about Michael Boatman and Tom Wopat ’s performance did you like?

Nothing wrong with the narration, they are not the problem.

Could you see Cross My Heart being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Never. Sorry James, but you really ticked many of your fans off.

Any additional comments?

I admit, it was becoming predictable that all is so good at the end, but killing off his family, knowing that they are most likely alive, and you know who did it... still predictable. You just need to wait a year to find out, was this really needed?

Excellent series

Narrator is engaging. James Patterson makes it so even though this is a series, the reader isn't lost with the background info or part events.

The Way to the Cross

Any additional comments?

So far, this is the most emotionally charged of the Cross Series. Not only do we see Det. Alex Cross as the meticulously organized and systematic Officer but the book depicts his human side as a loving father, husband and just one human being elated to savor the accomplishments of his family but also at a total loss after his a five-fold tragedy befell in his own household. Mr. Patterson is one author who knows how to pierce that pain center in our brain and share the misery of Mr. Cross as he helplessly deal with his tragedy and how he succumbed to a vacuum when he realized that there is nothing else out there to live or die for. But then, there is a Sequel to this book and Mr. Patterson trumps again to keep us hoping that with one stroke of his pen, the plot reverses to a complete 360 degree revolution.
