Publisher's summary

USA Today bestseller

Maggie Thomas doesn't know the first thing about being a private eye. She quickly discovers that running her uncle's faltering Miami Beach P.I. agency is nothing like watching detective show reruns. Even the private eye app on her iPhone can't help.

But Maggie's first case is surprisingly easy...or so she thinks until she stumbles upon a dead body. With whizzing bullets, car chases, and spandex-clad bodybuilders, Maggie wonders if she's in over her head. Jake Jackson, the dangerously charming cop, thinks Maggie needs to stick to snapping pictures of cheating husbands and leave the detective work to the professionals.

The danger escalates when another homicide victim washes up on the shore and now someone wants to stop Maggie from solving the murders. With the help of her knitting needle-wielding, orthopedic shoe-wearing assistant Dorothy Raye, Maggie must solve the case before she's the next victim of this crime wave.

Not one of my favorites...

If you can get past the lead character saying every 5 mins "why are you following me" is he following me....now I following him....over and over its really annoying! She really kind of gets on your nerves! She study criminal justice....but is so dense she had NO glue what's going on half the time! Her assistant would make a better PI, she is FUN!!! Give us more of her!! She reminds me of Violetta Bell..aka...Morgue Mamma! The story is better good...but the narrators voice is our Maggie is a little thin at times....other than that she's OK.

Great Mystery

Lovable characters. Quick and easy read. Looking forward to more. Mystery lovers will not be disappointed. The narrator does a great kob. and makes me feel like the book is Sex in the City meets Castle.

Fun

This was a good mystery, it had twists throughout the story but I thought that it was funny too. I laughed throughout the whole story because Dorothy which is a little old lady and Maggie's assistant was so funny, for me she made the story great.

Good little cozy

Good start to a series. Nice clean fun. The male lead falls for our heroine a little too easy.

Yes, i am a PI

Great book and well developed story line.I just love the characters. This is the first in this series that i have read and l look forward to more. It is about a woman named Maggie who inherited a PI business and she and her assistant, Dorothea get their first case. It starts out as a wife cheating on a husband and expands to murder. Also with some help from a police detective, Jake they work to unravel the mystery.

Fun PI book

Even though the narrator made the characters sound like they were from New Jersey but she still did a good job lol

The story was so fun and had me laughing so much especially since I did PI work for a while.

Listening to the second one now :)

Fun Story

Loved it. Just enough intrigue to keep you committed to reading it to the end.

An entertaining cozy PI

The narrator did a wonderful job bringing this mystery to life. While there was an abundant use of the word “said,” overall, Crime Wave was a fun, easy listen. The ending did feel a bit rushed and underwhelming, but Maggie and Dorothy have great chemistry, reminiscent of Jana Deleon’s Miss Fortune series. I would listen to the sequel!

Terrible.

The story was boring and predictable. Although, I suppose it did surprise me a little. I expected it to be good and it wasn't. Surprise! I listened to this on Kindle Unlimited, so I didn't have to use a credit. Good thing. I would have returned it! The ending was even terrible. There are few books that actually make me want to stop reading them immediately. Usually, I cannot put a book down until I am done with it-even if the story is less than engaging. Unfortunately , I did not have the data available (on my phone) to download another book, so I listened to this. The story was terribly anticlimactic and quite frankly, boring. I was actually checking the time left on the book to see when it would be over.
This book was listed under "humor" and I still have no idea why. It wasn't even slightly amusing . I will not listen to anything by this author or narrator again.
