Publisher's summary

The frigid waters of the Pacific Northwest are about to get hot....

The only thing Navy underwater archaeologist Undine Gray fears more than facing former SEAL Luke Sevick is never scuba diving again. But when a dive on a Cold War-era US Navy submarine ends with an accidental explosion, she's terrified of going into the deep, forcing her to beg the most experienced diver she knows to take her back to the bottom of the cold Salish Sea.

Luke wants nothing to do with the woman who destroyed his career a dozen years ago but finds it impossible to turn his back on her plea. Caught off guard by an attraction he doesn't want to feel, he's eager to be done with this mission of mercy. But when they dive on the wreck, he only gets sucked in deeper. Someone has been digging on the Navy sub...and it appears the explosion that almost killed Undine was no accident.

To find the truth, Undine must navigate murky waters and the unexpectedly hot undercurrents swirling between her and Luke. Worse, divers are searching for something lost in US waters during the Cold War, and they'll do anything to keep Luke and Undine from finding it first.

Cold Evidence

Excellent fiction on the Cold War and submarine warfare. The story has romance and ends with a HEA after suspenseful scenes. Recommend.

Excellent, exciting listen.

One of my “new” favorite authors. Loved this book, so much happening along with the underlying whodunnit. Great listen and on my list of favorites.

Another brilliant romantic suspense

Rachel Grant writes intelligent and absorbing stories that capture the readers interest from the first scene. I love how she manages to create strong characters that take responsibility for their actions and behave in ways that are true to their described characteristics, if the heroine is described as kind then there is evidence that she does kind things and if the hero is described as brave and tough, he isn’t so insecure as to resort to bullying or coercion to convince everyone of his toughness.
There was enough suspense that I had no idea what the end would look like and I loved the chemistry between the two main characters. Yes there was angst and frustration - but never to the point where I would be wanting to fast forward through ridiculous miscommunications or actions that were out of character and were too stupid to be believed. That is what I love best about Rachel Grant as an author, she uses creative development rather than formulaic methods to write her stories giving the reader a no apologies story with just enough of everything.
Well worth the read.

Discovered RG’s Cold Evidence- I Loved it. Cool!

The Bottom Line:
Story: 4.5 stars. original, good action, good romance, interesting. Entraining romantic suspense.
Relationship/heat: 4.5 stars, also original, good main characters, loving, sizzling.
Narration: 4 stars, good- gets better as the series progresses.
Overall: 4.5 stars, great listen, worth a credit!

The Big Picture:
STORY: I discovered Rachel Grant with her Flashpoint series, which is excellent. Her “Evidence” series is very good too, and well worth the listening time. Cold Evidence is interesting, well researched, fast pace mystery /suspense, sizzling, intelligently written, and peppered with good humor.
I love the fact that the main hero Luke is NOT a millionaire! How refreshing, that there can be “regular-salary-earning” guys starring in a romance! There is more of that in some of the other books by Rachel Grant. Her main female characters are also interesting modern women, with brains (!!!) and diverse personalities. Undine, in Cold Evidence, is complex and very human, along with her great achievements. The relationships that Rachel Grant creates sound believable and sizzle off the page in a loving manner, without distracting from the suspense, and they are infused with fun and humor (THANK YOU).
Cold Evidence is very well done, and fun to listen to!

NARRATION: Good. Nicol Zanzarella gets better as the Evidence series progresses. She has a nice voice, good pace, and clear intonation. She does accents pretty well, and is pleasant to listen to. Personally, I prefer the narration of the Flashpoint series, but this narration is quite enjoyable!

OVERALL: If you like this genre, Rachel Grant is a great author to follow, and you will enjoy this book. I loved it. Cool! (Listen to the book and you’ll see why I said that 😉)
Can’t wait to listen to the next book in the series.
Definitely worth a credit!

One of my favorite Rachel Grants

Loved learning about scuba dining, the ocean faults, the family back stories, the atmosphere and the landscape of the Pacific Northwest, liked the link to other books in the evidence series.

Forgiveness

When Navy underwater archaeologist Undine Gray is rescued from a watery grave she never expected it to be by her lost love and biggest regret. The man she destroyed.

Former SEAL Luke Sevick never wanted to see the girl, now woman who ruined his life again. After rescuing her he certainly didn't expect her to ask for his help with her PTSD.

And he never could have believed that a simple mercy dive could trigger a series of events that not only threaten himself and Undine but thousands of innocent lives.

Navigating murky waters is nothing compared with the hot undercurrents swirling between Luke and Undine.

With everything on the line including the life of the woman he still cares for, has Luke got it in him to be a hero one more time. As the SEALs motto goes 'the only easy day was yesterday'. He just has to hope that he will survive to have a tomorrow with the girl he never forgot. And the strength to find forgiveness in his heart.

OMG! Rachel delivers one hot, emotional, scary edge of the seat romantic suspense with brilliant narration by Nicol which I listened to for free with Audible Escape.

Military, romantic suspense.

i enjoyed this sixth book in the Evidence series. it can be read as a standalone, although characters in previous books are mentioned, but they are not essential for the plot. The novel is a well plotted military, spy story including international agencies and hidden, dangerous bombs and risky, heroic missions. It takes place in the state of Washington and the protagonists are Undine, a Navy, underwater archaeologist and former SEAL Luke Sevick. Larger than life characters and an exciting plot mean It's a great read. I enjoyed listening to the audiobook once again read by Nicol Zanzarella.
