Publisher's Summary

Jack's a retired ex-cop from New York, seeking the simple life in Cherringham. Sarah's a Web designer who's moved back to the village find herself. But their lives are anything but quiet as the two team up to solve Cherringham's criminal mysteries.

This compilation contains episodes 7 - 9: THE BODY IN THE LAKE, SNOWBLIND and PLAYING DEAD.

Here Jack and Sarah are called to task when the body of a dignitary turns up in a lake - with all too many suspects involved. A resident of the retirement home falls victim to the elements in one of Cherringham's worst blizzard in years - but was there something sinister at work here? And Cherringham Christmas show rehearsals spin into chaos as someone is out to sabotage the event with deadly repercussions.

Cherringham is a serial novel à la Charles Dickens, with a new mystery thriller released each month. Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo: English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack. Thrilling and deadly - but with a spot of tea - it's like Rosamunde Pilcher meets Inspector Barnaby. Each of the self-contained episodes is a quick read for the morning commute, while waiting for the doctor, or when curling up with a hot cuppa.

For fans of Agatha Christie's "Miss Marple series", Lilian Jackson Braun's "The Cat Who series", Caroline Graham's "Midsomer Murders", and the American TV series "Murder She Wrote", starring Angela Lansbury.

Co-authors Neil Richards (based in the UK) and Matthew Costello (based in the US), have been writing together since the mid 90's, creating content and working on projects for the BBC, Disney Channel, Sony, ABC, Eidos, and Nintendo to name but a few. Their transatlantic collaboration has underpinned scores of TV drama scripts, computer games, radio shows, and - most recently - the successful crime fiction series Cherringham.

Highly recommended!

I've read the previous instalments of this series and I've loved them all! After way too many psychological thrillers these were enjoyable mysteries.
In each episode, you'll learn a little more about Sarah and Jack (the main characters). Character development is steady and delightful.
Neil Dudgeon - the best narrator I've come across here on Audible!

Loved it!

These aren't great mysteries, but they are charming, gentle stories that make you feel moving to an English village. Jack and Sara are both likeable and smart. Neil Dudgeon is perfect as the narrator. I hope that the rest of the mysteries will be available on Audible soon.

Two unlikely people solving crimes

I could picture the American gent on his boat and the English lady living in her cottage. I could see them hurrying around looking for clues. solving the crimes. I look forward to each new book to see what they get into next. I enjoyed their humor. Give it a try, you just might surprise yourself.

Easy Listening While walking or driving

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely - pleasant books that entertain.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

These are not "edge of your seat" plots - just nice ones.

Have you listened to any of Neil Dudgeon’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He is a good reader.

Enjoyable cosy with well developed characters/plot

Would you consider the audio edition of Cherringham - A Cosy Crime Series Compilation (Cherringham 7 - 9) to be better than the print version?

I've listened to the first 9 stories and thoroughly enjoyed them all. There are more audio books, but only in German. Waiting now for the English versions.

I want More!!

What did you love best about Cherringham - A Cosy Crime Series Compilation (Cherringham 7 - 9)?

Each story is a perfect cozy mystery read by a talented actor,. The stories are linked together by two characters and their interactions with family and community. If I were M.C. Beaton, I would either be jealous or proud of what Costello and Richards have created. This is a series that I have been waiting for.

Any additional comments?

When will Mr. Dudgeon record more episodes?

A Entertaining Series - I'm Addicted to It

These stories take place in a small town full of interesting situations and characters. They are well plotted and move along at a brisk pace. Jack and Sarah are the main characters. They are likable and smart. Each story I've listened to so far has been unique and had some interesting twists.

The authors do a good job of creating a sense of place in a short period of time. When I start listening to an episode I can picture the scenes in my mind.

The narration is good. At times Neil Dudgeon's voice sounds a little rough to me. But his narration is always clear and I always understand what character is speaking.

This series offers a lot of entertainment for a reasonable price.

Classic English Murder

I loved this series. Classic English murder with great character relationships. I was sad that Audible didn't have those stories after this one in English because I wanted to see where the relationships would go from here.

Cherringham, 7-9

Another lovely collection of stories, beautifully read. The pairing of the New York policeman (retd) and the single mum really works and the stories are well thought out. Enjoyable, relaxing read.

Cheap and cheerful?

Bought as a Xmas present to me , a whim really, but I really really have enjoyed this set of books. The stories are easy light and a acceptable even for my grand daughter to listen to. The narrative was excellent. Thank you so much looking forward to more crimes in Cherringham

Brilliant

If you could sum up Cherringham - A Cosy Crime Series Compilation (Cherringham 7 - 9) in three words, what would they be?

Clever, intriguing, page turner

What other book might you compare Cherringham - A Cosy Crime Series Compilation (Cherringham 7 - 9) to, and why?

Cherringham - A Cosy Crime Series 1-3 and 4-6. All of them are brilliantly written who dunnits. Unusual to have an ex NYPD detective investigating crime in and around an English village with a local computer wiz but, it really works.

Which character – as performed by Neil Dudgeon – was your favourite?

Definitely Jack. Mr Dudgeons voice characterisation is very convincing and Jack is written as a totally believable character.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Not so cosy

Any additional comments?

Every story in the series that has been translated into English is very good. Are of a very high standard and you rarely guess the criminal before the end as there are many twists and turns. I really hope Audible start selling the rest of the series as I can't wait to listen to them all

Another excellent instalment of the Cherringham Series.
Really enjoy listening to Neil Dudgeon as the narrator.
The story lines are very plausible and would fit right at home within the Midsomer villages. Although I'm not sure I'd want to visit there. Lol.
