Publisher's summary

Her career in homicide has taken her into the darkest depths of New York City’s underground - and sometimes Lieutenant Eve Dallas feels more comfortable in those kinds of places than in the high-rise, high-society world of her billionaire husband, Roarke. But while she’s no party girl, she’s managing to have a reasonably good time at the celebrity-packed bash celebrating the debut of The Icove Agenda. This time it’s Eve, not Roarke, who’s a guest of honor, since the film is based on one of her famous cases. Her partner, Peabody, is practically giddy over rubbing shoulders with Hollywood royalty. Eve, on the other hand, is more likely to roll her eyes than have stars in them. But she has to admit it’s a little spooky seeing the actress playing her, who looks almost like her long-lost twin. Not as unsettling, though, as seeing K. T. Harris, the actress who plays Peabody - drowned in the lap pool on the roof of the director’s luxury building. Talented but rude, and widely disliked, K.T. had made an embarrassing scene during dinner. She clearly liked being the center of attention. Now she’s at the center of a crime scene - and Eve is more than ready to get out of her high heels and strap on her holster, to step into the role she was born to play: cop.

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

Susan Ericksen is amazing!

Would you consider the audio edition of Celebrity in Death to be better than the print version?

I've always found that the audio versions of the J.D. Robb books are more enjoyable to listen to over read due to Ericksen's narration.

What did you like best about this story?

Such a great, fun story (aside from the pesky murders). After a few darker entries into this series, this book really brings out what you love about the characters involved and I caught myself laughing out loud more than once.

What does Susan Ericksen bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

Susan Ericksen really outdoes herself on this one. Any potential pitfalls with the character v. actor voices confusing the listener are non-existent (I especially thought the Rourke v. non-Rourke voices are very well done).

She's such a pleasure to listen to.

Another score for J.D. Robb!

I'm always waiting for the next installment of the In Death series, and as soon as it is possible I download it. I simply love it!
The narration by Susan Ericksen is great. She does a great work distinguishing the voices of the characters, and after so many books is great to hear them back...
It is one more good book for this series.

Go Peabody!! Another great one!

What made the experience of listening to Celebrity in Death the most enjoyable?

Susan Ericksen is so talented, and JD Robb is magic! Between the two of them, I loved all of it, and especially enjoyed Peabody's story, her strengths and her humor. Of course Eve and Rouke, but Peabody was a stand out in this one!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Celebrity in Death?

somewhat of a SPOILER but Peabody's interview of the

What about Susan Ericksen’s performance did you like?

You know who is who with out of the writer telling you so, Susan give each person their own personality!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Peabody chat with Eve about her trip to Dallas and how she handled it.

Any additional comments?

I enjoy this series so much!! I hope that Nora, umm, I mean JD Robb doesn't stop writing them, and that Susan will always be the Narrator, can't imagine ANYONE else doing them!

Another Winner!

Not a bad one in the bunch and this was no exception. I love this series, I love the narrator. Only bad thing is now I probably have to wait a year for another one.

Not as Good

Would you try another book from J. D. Robb and/or Susan Ericksen?

I found this book to be boring most of the time. Too much dialogue. I enjoy the whole team and when they are left out of a story I am disappointed. The plot seemed to be a little too unbelievable. I love the series, but was disappointed in this book.

Nice visit with the usual suspects

What made the experience of listening to Celebrity in Death the most enjoyable?

After so many years with these characters it's always interesting to hear more about their lives.

If you’ve listened to books by J. D. Robb before, how does this one compare?

This won't be my favorite installment in the series. It may only seem like a less interesting story after the personal and intense 'New York to Dallas' but I also got a bit tired of the suspecting and discarding of each of the potential killers. The pattern of suspect and discard gets to be predictable/boring but forgivable with a good twist. There was no wow in this twist.

What about Susan Ericksen’s performance did you like?

I absolutely adore Susan as a narrator, especially the fact that Nora and the producers of the audio books have chosen to keep the same reader for the entire series. I love that I recognize the voices of the characters.

I find it curious that Susan reads typos as they are printed. In other books, earlier in the series, I've read over typos or dialogue attributed to the wrong character and then heard Susan read it exactly as written. I'm surprised that Susan or the director doesn't take the opportunity to make a correction. Interesting.

Thank you, Nora and Susan!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would have but the schedule didn't allow that much time. I listened to this book in three sittings.

Any additional comments?

I'll listen to any story that Nora cares to write. This is one of my favorite series and favorite ensemble of characters.

What illiterate drivel!

What would have made Celebrity in Death better?

A plot, character development, a vocabulary, some, any literary intelligence.

Has Celebrity in Death turned you off from other books in this genre?

I will be more wary of best sellers of this genre certainly. Certainly this author. This is a brilliant genre when written by intelligent, less manipulative authors.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

To put it delicately, when I first began listening I thought the reader had some cognitive deficiency.

What character would you cut from Celebrity in Death?

All were just comic book figures.

Any additional comments?

I was misled by all the star reviews. Honestly I think people should expect more than this regurgitated TV series drivel.

A great getaway book

I started this series as I was curious how Robb would see the future(2060) in a NYC crime drama. The series does get off planet and cars can soar but many things are the same which I guess maybe the way it will actually be. Susan Ericksen narration makes this series work, she brings to life the various "odd" character. I often find myself chuckling to a comment made. In this book there was a lot less action and violence than in other books in the series. The book played more on dialog and who was where and when sort of an Agatha Christie feel to it. The book leaves one feeling good and makes a nice break between more serious books.

The Bar is set very high for J D Robb books

If you could sum up Celebrity in Death in three words, what would they be?

Enjoyable, predictable, slow

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I always enjoy more of the major characters although I do not enjoy the fighting between Eve and Roark. I like to wonder what's happening with the subplots of Roark's family in Ireland and would like to see Eve and Sommerset get a little closer even in their adversary ways. This story is not in my opinion as good as previous but as I said, the bar is set so high it is hard to top. At her worst Robb is better than most. As an aside, the narrator is the best in the business and makes all Robb's characters have their own individual and unique personalities. I eagerly await each and every book.

What does Susan Ericksen bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

As above, I think Ericksen makes the books just that much better. She is an exceptional reader and she makes each character special. Love her

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not as much as many others. I have cried or laughed a lot in other books in the series but not in this one. Nothing very moving. I never felt close to any of the characters introduced in this book other than our familiar favorites.

Any additional comments?

There has never been an
