This is my fourth book. It dragged on a bit but still a good series.

Would you try another book from Joanne Fluke and/or Suzanne Toren?

I like the mysteries themselves even though I struggle with Hannah's character. The only edge to her is her irritating parts like lack of style in her dress or house, etc. but what drives me really nuts is the whiny voices for some of the characters and all the recipes. If you are listening to an audiobook it is not fun when you have to listen to yet another not so great recipe for some unhealthy old fashioned casserole or another cookie. A little goes a long ways. I don't want a cook book. I won't finish the series because it's irritating but I do enjoy the storyline for the most part

the higher pitched voices are not appealing after a while they grate on you.

Take Me Out To The Ballgame

Another visit to Lake Eden. I really enjoyed spending time in the Cookie Jar Cafe. It’s like that comfy sweater you can’t wait to wear. You become part of the community. Good story told well. Just what I want in a cozy.

the more I listen to this book the more unrealistic it is. these are some of the most tolerable people I've ever met. you are that agreeable when being questioned by Hannah even when she believes you're a suspect. then Normaj goes out of town to investigate and people he's never met they just open by to him. yeah ok

Light Entertainment

I've enjoyed listening to this mystery solved by Hannah Swenson. Joanne Fluke weaves a tight story.
It is a light, entertaining story peppered with loads of recipes. I've read other books by this author in paperback edition. In those cases I was able to try out the included recipes with little trouble.
What I haven't enjoyed is trying to figure out how to copy a recipe without listening to an entire section of the book again.

Tasty Cozy Mystery

I've long been a fan of this series, and Carrot Cake Murder does not disappoint. When Uncle Gus reappears in town for a family reunion, some thirty years after disappearing without a trace, people in town notice. Is it really him? Or an imposter? Everyone is stunned when Gus is found dead the next day. Urging Hannah to investigate, the family is wondering who could have stabbed Gus . . . with something that appears to have been an ice pick. No one uses ice picks anymore . . . so who, what, where? Excellent mystery . . . and an ending well worth the wait.

A family reunion is planned for near one hundred guests. Uncle Gus Herman, missing for twenty-five years, makes an unexpected appearance. His boastful stories and wads of cash are suspicious. Gus is missing, again, and Hannah goes looking for him. Oops! She spies a slice of carrot cake, Uncle Gus’s favorite, and his body nearby. Someone wasn’t that thrilled with his return. I enjoyed Joanna Fluke’s tenth book in the series by listening to the audio version narrated by the talented Suzanne Toren. I was surprised, however, that it was in no way connected to the recent television production, but I still loved the differences. Sure, some of the same characters were involved, the love triangle plays out in the periphery, and Hannah is as singleminded and prone to trouble when investigating a murder, but it’s summertime, Hannah and Mike are more at odds over her interference, and baking and cooking talk gets more air time with full recipes that all seem connected to the drama (cooks will want the ebook or print copy for this reference). You know what happens when a cozy mystery has so many family members gathering together … there’s a murder! A long absent uncle shows up unexpectedly and ends up murdered, and while investigating, Hannah uncover a hidden past, a valuable item, and a guilty person. Clever. Intriguing. Delicious Fun!

A nice cozy mystery

A cat, some delicious sounding recipes, and a cozy mystery . . . What more could a retired librarian ask for? This is my first Hannah Swenson Mystery novel. This particular book is number 10 in the series. I never felt that I missing out on anything while reading it so I think it can be read out of sequence.

Unexpected

Always enjoy the cleaver writing and humor of this author never disappoints a very happy read.
