Publisher's summary

When a promising actress from Spanish Harlem dies from a gunshot wound in the Tribeca penthouse apartment of an eccentrically famous Broadway producer, it is up to New York D.A. Roger "Butch" Karp and his hard-charging, crime-fighting wife, Marlene Ciampi, to champion the murdered actress's cause. Karp - outraged by defense tactics to destroy the young woman's reputation and the mysterious death of the assistant D.A. assigned to the case - decides to personally prosecute the case and expose the "Big Lie" defense.

With Marlene's assistance, Karp is determined that money, threats, notoriety, and a high-powered defense attorney and his legion of experts will not prevail over justice. Then Karp's daughter Lucy goes missing.

A Fine Thriller

What sets Robert K. Tannenbaum's works apart are his intriguing characters and the sense of decency and morality of his protagonists. This book interweaves several subplots, mostly successfully, and succeeds in holding the reader's attention throughout. Good triumphs over evil, but not without a heck of a struggle!

another good book for a rainy day, not for idiots

The first couple of chapters Mr tannenbaum sets up his story introducing you to the characters like preacher grill Lucy Ned and the list can go on the book is very interesting I love how I can almost see the streets of New York as he describes every little thing this out there has a very good series and it is well worth the credit I wish I had this on hard copy it's definitely a book I'll be listening to several times.

Capture

Tannenbaum has been a favorite for many years. The adventures of Karp and Marlene and now their daughter,Lucy, never get old.

The narration was to notch. and I felt like I was present.

Can’t get enough

Love this series! I don’t want it to end!! Every book I listen to, I can’t wait for the next one to find out what else could come to the Carp/Ciampi family! They’re like friends and I’ve “watched” the kids grow up.

Capture

I have followed this series from the beginning. This is the best one yet. It was time to take Kane and his gang out. Now I am wondering about that very bad woman that got way? I am looking forward Mr. Tanenbaums next book.

Timely Tanenbaum Tomes

This was a fast paced, exciting, and intellectually stimulating read. It’s amazing the foresight of Mr. Tanenbaum to write such a story that is relevant all these years later. My goal is to read every book written by Tannenbaum to further my education and have a hell of a good time!😍

Horrible

After many years of listening to books, I came across an author and a reader that made me quit listening half way through Part 1. The characters are unbelievable and the reader's sometimes falsetto sent shivers up my back. Save your money and your time.

Karp has jumped the shark

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Comic book fans. It was just ridiculous, but if you can suspend disbelief... fantasy fans?

What could Robert K. Tanenbaum have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I'm done. I'm never buying another one of his books. He can stand on his head. I'm not buying it.

Which character – as performed by Charles Leggett – was your favorite?

I didn't have a favorite.

Any additional comments?

I just kept repeating "Really?!" like on Saturday Night Live... I just could not believe the garbage that passed for a plot in this book. I've read every unabridged book I could get my hands on by Tanenbaum, but it's over. Don't call me.
