another good story
Randy Wayne White continues to weave the great tale. he includes elements of Florida history that most people don't know and this particular book about net fisherman and the conflict between them and sports fisherman. he brings to light some interesting backwoods characters the continue to make his novels both entertaining and educational. he has enough plot twists to keep you guessing. the audio performance is good and it's different than reading it helps you really feel the story in a different way.

Great Author!
I miss Dick Hill from the first three novels: I look for audio books where he's the performer. This guy narrating this novel is dry to listen to. Otherwise, the book is what you would expect from Mr. White. Very good!

Hooray!
So glad to see this appear on Audible. Not only one of the best of Randy Wayne White's Doc Ford series, but the added attraction of a George Guidall narration.
Captiva has all the landmarks of a great Doc Ford adventure: great information about South Florida and the lives of its long-time inhabitants, the wonderful regular characters in this world, anger at the unfairness and injustice of the modern world, romance, and edge-of-your-seat adventure.
Please bring the other missing parts of this series on board at Audible! This is a treat!

Best ever
Just found this author since George Guidall is the narrator. It is well written, has a sense of humor, and kept me guessing on what would happen next. I highly recommend this book and the author’s other books that uses the same characters

Good story, terrible narration
This story brings back vivid memories of the mid 90s, and an entire industry unsure of how they would make ends meet in the coming months. White does a great job seeing the situation from all the major angles. The narrator is clueless about the setting, and his inability to properly pronounce the names of common places like Boca Grande and things like conch really exhibits it. His elderly voicing of Doc Ford and lack of change in inflection and tone when voicing other characters is also disappointing.
