A Fascinating New Twist in the Post Apocalyptic Genre

"One of the best social commentaries of our time, wrapped in a whopping good tale."

"Can't believe it's a first effort! Very suspenseful! The thought that something so 'every day' and beloved could cause such chaos is chilling. I was actually frightened by the possibilities raised here and can see how something trivial can be twisted or corrupted to wreak havoc! Good job! Fiction or prediction of a possible future scenario? Scared me to think about it." – Laura L.

"I read a lot of books, mostly sci-fi or adventure. This is the best book I have read in a long time. The story is creative, original, and the more I hear about people in this world, the more I can see that it is possible and maybe probable and making me think strongly about stockpiling. The book was well written and leaving you wanting more. I will certainly read the next volume in this (hopefully) series. I give it 5 stars." – Illiad5

The twisted world of mainstream news and social media becomes the catalyst for social upheaval, entangling Steven Bryant in a frantic fight for the lives of his family and friends. A news story goes viral, causing their once normal lives to take a dangerous turn when a flawed medical research study suggesting man’s best friend might be his worst enemy.

Chaos erupts and a near total collapse of society looms in a perfect storm of government corruption, political correctness, and social justice movements. Steven unwittingly finds himself the leader of a struggle for survival as America's civil structure and social fabric is exposed as a house of cards. Sworn enemies become allies when faced with a common cause and friends and family members become bitter enemies as they confront hunger and widespread violence in a threat to their very survival.

Life will never be the same.

Political Thriller

I did enjoy listening to the book but found it to be more of a military/politics apocalypse thriller than a medical thriller. The narrator did great job. It definitely was written recently with the characters mentioned. It is scary what our government could cause. Well done and thank you Mr. Walker.

Interesting and unique story line. I was anticipating something quite different, but the story and Kevin Pierce soon had me interested and paying close attention. The story begins with a government medical report conveying the result of their research that dog dander was the cause for 90% of the cancer cases in the U.S.. With this information the government issued orders that all dogs should be confiscated and put to death. This is the basis for the title of the novel and the trigger that caused civil unrest throughout the country and the beginning of a potential civil war. The tale proceeds as a commentary on social media, government overreach and corruption, and the struggle to preserve our rights, freedom and the Constitution. This debut novel by a new author was well thought out and executed. Well done and thank you Mr. Walker. Kevin Pierce’s performance was flawless as usual. The tale certainly comes from a libertarian mind, but that’s alright by me. It highlights and warns of possibilities and potential problems straight from today’s headlines, television and radio broadcasts. Caveat emptor!

Wasn't expecting the homosexuality theme to pop up

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Not really

What was most disappointing about Burt Walker’s story?

I was put off by his psychoanalysis of one of the chatacter's homosexuality, wasn't sure where it was headed, didn't stick around to find out.

Any additional comments?

Not my kind of book. Didn't finish it.

Man's Best Friend is in Trouble!!

A good story, with man's best friend being blamed for cancer. The country quickly descends into panic as fear sets in.

Kevin Pierce delivers a polished performance and makes this an interesting listen.

Politically motivated

The narration of this book was excellent. It was obvious only a short time in that the book was written to promote the authors political views. Though I like a government conspiracy theory story, this one used the names of real people in government. In my opinion, that was a bit much. Also, when the fighting started the women folk were sent away to keep them safe. The them of this book is that Face Book has ruined society, the government is corrupt, Obama is coming for your guns and women belong in the kitchen. The writing itself is ok. As for myself, I wouldn't have finished the book if I hadn't promised to do a review.

I was really enjoying the book until it got too preachy. I don't like being lectured to. I received this audiobook for free through Audiobook Boom for my unbiased review.

CaninePlague

Kevin Pierce narrates this book very nicely.I had some issues with this book.I realize it is fiction, perfectly timed fiction with a serious right wing slant. The anti liberal stance in this book is extreme. There is a lot of misinformation through out. Forgetting that,it was an ok book. The writing was well done, though the threads do not come together at times.I was given this book free for an honest review.

Politically fueled bad science

Any additional comments?

Enjoyable, interesting, intriguing and entertaining.
Unusual and original premise for the plot line.

Political views enough to irritate just about everyone. And little snippets to offend everyone else. It depends on where you stand politically to how offended you may feel. The timeline for the story takes place in 2016 and there are several prominent names used and many that just by description you have a pretty good idea who the story is referring to.

The story is based on the premise people will believe just about anything if it's packaged right. Considering how dependent people have become on social media this is not far from the truth. The sheep/herd mentality aspect of the story is completely believable. Throughout the story he does bring up many good points about the world we live in and makes you think about what you would do in a similar situation.

A senator with Alzheimer's - that's a really scary thought.
Pushing a particular political agenda- that's done all the time.

Kevin Pierce did another great job with the narration. Great job on all the different characters. He has the perfect voice for this type of story. Kevin pierce is fast becoming on of my favorite narrators. There is just something about his voice, you can listen to him for hours on end. Even if your not into a book he keeps you listening.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to reading more from Mr. Walker in the future.
