Publisher's summary

Jason Kolarich has spent the past year struggling to recover from the horrific deaths of his wife and baby daughter. On the night of their deaths, Kolarich was at the office, awaiting a call from a confidential informant named Ernesto Ramirez — a call that never came. Kolarich blames himself not only for the deaths of his wife and child, but for the informant’s murder as well. He can’t bring back his family, but he can find out who killed Ramirez and bring the killer to justice.

Unfortunately, Kolarich’s guns-blazing approach to justice lands him smack in the middle of an FBI probe of a deeply corrupt governor and his cronies. To avoid jail, Kolarich must enter a world of wiretaps, double-dealing, and kickbacks, where he soon discovers that the murder of his informant was only the tip of the iceberg. This breach of trust runs up to the highest levels of power, and exposing it may drag Kolarich into the fight of his life.

Really well done!

Would you consider the audio edition of Breach of Trust to be better than the print version?

I wasn't sure...never read this author before, but got it on the $5 deal. I'd have been happy with it at full price! Really an enjoyable story. Very well done by the narrator, realistic and not over the top. I really love the wit of this author, he's quite sharp. As I type this I'm downloading another from Mr. Ellis. If it's like this one, I'll be quite happy!

Highly recommend

Although it is a long and complex story I was hooked right from the start. Can't wait to read more by this author.

Kept me listening.

This was an interesting story that kept me listening. I like this genre so even though it may have had a familiar ring, I still liked it. This is the first time I've listened to this author. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it was too heavy on the profanity. I liked the characters and kept waiting to see how things would all work out. I wondered how the main character was going to get out of his apparent trouble by the end of the book. Worth a listen.

Politics and corruption, a great read

As I began this book, I was disheartened to realize that this was a prequel to the first Jason Kolarich book, and I would have to suffer through the details of his personal tragedy that we learned of in that book. Knowing how it turns out was excruciating as I read about the details of how it happened.

But, this is part of the reason I enjoyed the book. The characters feel real to me and I'm right along with them for the ride. Politics and corruption usually don't hold my interest, but I was completely wrapped up in Breach of Trust all the way to the end. I look forward to the next installment.

[I was super close to giving five stars on this, 4.5 for sure]

Interesting story, not nail-biting.

Would you try another book from David Ellis and/or Luke Daniels?

yes- I see some potential.

Would you be willing to try another book from David Ellis? Why or why not?

Yes, his writing is pretty good, but the characters were flat and there was no tension created between them. It was a good enough read to pass the time while traveling though.

Which scene was your favorite?

Don't have one.

Do you think Breach of Trust needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No

Any additional comments?

The political corruption angle wasn't unique in any way and I really did not get attached to any of the characters. It was an OK story, but not over 3 stars for me. The narrator started out pretty good, but I soon found that he was going to sound the same throughout the book, regardless of the situation. His voice did not lend itself to tension, which was sorely missing. Hard to tell if that was because of the writing or if he was a little bored while reading.

Just in Time for the Election!

Would you consider the audio edition of Breach of Trust to be better than the print version?

I have not had the pleasure of reading the print version, but I did find this book to be very intriguing and entertaining.

Yes! I kept wondering "who dun it"! I thought the story was interesting, yet convincing.

Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

no - I haven't, but I would certainly listen to him again.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

no extreme reactions- just an interesting story about a lawyer who gets involved with a political campaign in order to solve a murder.

Any additional comments?

Loved it!

Great book about how our political system works behind the scenes. Although this is complete fiction it is much of how it works in real life. Great read. Interesting characters. Well worth the credit!

David Ellis - great read

Would you listen to Breach of Trust again? Why?

Yes I would listen again - but not for some time. Would prefer to "read" more of his work first.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Great plot as I was driving from WA to SA over the Nullabor. Didn't want to stop.

Excellent listen!

This was a very nice surprise. I decided to try out this author and narrator, and can honestly say I am not disappointed. Both do an excellent job at pulling the listener down a winding road of interest, intrigue, thrills and more. Highly recommended!
