Publisher's summary

Book Two in the Thriller Award-nominated Huntress/FBI series

Twenty-five years have passed since a savage killer terrorized California, massacring three ordinary families before disappearing without a trace. The only surviving victim of his rampage was a child…who is now wanted by the FBI for brutal crimes of her own.

Special Agent Matthew Roarke is on an interstate manhunt to track her down, despite feeling torn between his dedication to duty and his sympathy for her horrific history and motives. But when Roarke's search unearths evidence of new family slayings, the dangerous woman he seeks--and secretly wants--may be his only hope of preventing another bloodbath. He just has to find her first.

The pulse-pounding sequel to Huntress Moon is sure to leave listeners on the edges of their seats.

Huntress Moon Sequel Delivers Just As Big

Well the first book, Huntress Moon, was so good I immediately purchased this one. Blood Moon is good enough for me to start the third, Cold Moon.

Actually, this book is really a continuation of the plot and theme of Huntress Moon, rather than a sequel. It picks up 2 weeks after the conclusion of Huntress with the team laser focused on stopping a vigil ante killer. Same characters, same villain(s). I have a suspicion the two books were originally onenovel, split up by the publisher. Who knows, the third book, Cold Moon may well be more of the same. (It worked with Lord of the Rings, which was broken into three seperate novels by the publisher.)

This is another 5 star novel, but in my opinion you must read Huntress Moon first.

Outstanding I can't wait for the next book.

What made the experience of listening to Blood Moon the most enjoyable?

I love this narrator he got my heart pumping more than once. I felt like I was right there watching it all happen.

What did you like best about this story?

The plot it has you on the edge of your seat as well as Cara for being who she is and doing what she does. Roarke being in the tug of war between what he would like and what he must do.

Have you listened to any of R.C. Bray’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I put him right up at the top of my favorite narrator, he does an outstanding job I could listen to him all day as he put the suspense in suspense.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes I was both happy and sad all through it....there were times I wasn't sure how things would go that it made me jumpy. At times my heart was in my throat.

Any additional comments?

The author grabs you from page one and keeps you on the edge through to the end.
This is the second book in this series I have to say I am still a little torn between who to cheer for... the killer or the police. I know what Cara is doing is bad but I can't bring myself to not like her. I know Roarke must do his job hunt her and bring her in but for the life of my I can't bring myself to want the same thing. The author gives you such a compelling story of such pain one women trying to find justice and the FBI agent who is looking for her as he is pulled into a web of what to do. Can justice be served or will the hunt continue as Cara brings down monsters why protecting the people?

Ms. Sokoloff paints a story of horrible crimes and the one person who is doing her best to bring them down while Agent Roarke is torn between what he must do and what he wishes he could do. This book takes off where book 1 leave off, with some intents and very graphic story lines. I have fast fell in love with her as a writer and will follow as she takes me on one heck of a ride on a whirlwind travel of justice being served. She gives us serious issues that will break your heart, you wish you could hold the characters and give them hope. Maybe make a few of their dreams come true. Her plots are outstanding and very believable, her writing style is out of this world as she gives you wonderful characters why she spins a compelling tale and keeps you on the edge of your seat cheering first one and then the other on the hunt for monsters who deserve to die. She gives you chilling scenes that will stay with you long after you have finish the read. She paints the picture in your mind of murder, blood that gave me chills why she writes from alternate points of view from the FBI agent and the woman he is chasing, being able to see the story from both sides which made an outstanding read.

R.C. Bray as a narrator is outstanding he holds my interest and keeps me coming back for more as he brings my heart to my throat and give me visual of the bloody scenes along with the monsters that nature has given us. I love his many different voices at times I forget he is a man when I hear the women talking. His voice has chills going down my back as he held me on the edge not being able to put the book down. He gives just the correct amount of roughness to each character as he gives the softer side to the women.

This ending will have you holding your breath as you say NO NO NO please NO only to find you saying it over and over again before the last word is read. It does have a happy ending but a sad one.I would have to say Cara is and will always be my hero but so is Roarke. I have never read a book where I have been so torn. What an ending I do have to say it is great but I am so torn on that as well....I highly recommend this series it gives you all the thrills and chills along with suspense and mystery you could ask for. This series has just blown me away....

FBI hunts two serial killers

One serial killer is a psychopath who breaks into homes at night and murders entire families attempting to stage the crimes so that they appear to be murders by the husband/father followed by his suicide.. Only once in several such cases during 25 years has a victim, a young girl, not died.

The other serial killer is that young girl, now an adult, who kills pimps who has imported young girls and used them as prostitutes. She is also determined to kill the psychopath who killed her family.

This is the second book in a three book series. The series must be read in order to understand the story. Book 1 is excellent and Book 2 even better. The narrator is really good.

Great book under $8

This is the second book in the Huntress Series. In this series we know that Agent Roark is searching for two killers. One of them is the character we met in the first book, Cara. She is the only survivor of a killer who brutally killed every member of her family except her. They are also responsible for killing two other families. Both Agent Roark and Cara are searching for this killer who has disappeared, or have they? As Roarke tries to catch Cara he makes a terrible discovery. The person responsible for killing her family and setting her on her own personal path, also known as ‘the reaper’ has been at it again. Roarke has no clue how to find this killer of whole families. But it seems like Cara does and she keeps trying to help without getting caught. The “Dexter”. It was one of my favorite shows. However, this book formed such mental images in my mind it was like watching a movie as I read. It topped “Dexter” hands down. I would actually love to see this made into a movie or even a series. I find it amazing that the more Roarke tries to locate Cara the more clues she leaves him, helping him out. But I kept wondering if he was getting too close to Cara to the point of not being able to be objective. Definitely a must read, then move on to the third book.

R.C. Bray was great with the delivery of the story

Very predictable

Book was better than book 1 but I thought very predictable especially at the end. Many FBI errors that I don't believe would have happened in the real world. Upside: RC Bray is a terrific narrator and I seek his work from other authors.

Great story!

I really enjoyed this series and hope there will be more to come. I enjoyed the psychological profiling the most. Good characters that you want to see get the justice they deserve.

Enjoyed the storyline, but...

The first book in the series intrigued me, so I feel somewhat compelled to know it from start to finish.

I like how the author kept the story going. I was not surprised by the ending, but was a little sad about it.

I feel for Roarke - his inner turmoil and conflicting feelings. I have a soft spot for Cara, for what she has been through and become.

The element that has started getting on my nerves and is getting kinda old is this whole mystical, beyond human intuition stuff that is at the center of the story.

- Roarke's inhuman 'spidey senses': certain things not 'feeling right' to him; his one too many 'light bulb moments' - nobody is that good.

- Cara's connection to Darkness/Evil is otherworldly. I don't mind that much. What got to me in this book is how she mysteriously knows what is going on with the FBIs investigation. How she tracks Roarke, knows how/where to find him even after pausing several times in tracking him to do her own vigilante work. If she intuited they were trying to trap her, why follow the team to the resort town?

So a couple of things gave me pause, but I'm still interested enough (though a bit less that before) in what's going to happen next to read the 3rd installment.

Loved it!

I have been entertained through both books. Now on to number 3 & 4. Sometimes the narrator turns me off but this guy is perfect for the story.
