Cat's father was murdered when she was eight years old, but she always believed the crime occurred in the garden outside their home. The bloody footprints suggest otherwise.

Driven by this fragment of her past, Cat attempts a forensic reconstruction of the decades-old crime, even as developments with the New Orleans task force pull her back into the case she left behind.

Endearing and flawed herione

Almost didn't get this book because of the reviews but very glad I did. The subtopic of child molestation can be a slippery slope for any author. I think Mr. Iles did a good job, thoughtful and empathetic. As a child abuse survivor I was drawn to the book. What I got was a good suspense story along with some comfort from the heroine who mirrored some of my own behaviors and thoughts. This may not be the book for everyone and as one reviewer stated it may "turn your stomach" to hear the details. The reality is that many, many children are abused every day by their fathers, uncles, brothers or mothers. They frequently feel alone and helpless. I know this is not a forum for my special cause but would like to say keep your minds and eyes open.

I read every day mostly suspense/mysteries and actually do know the gendre so don't miss a really good read because of the "unpleasant" content.

Bad narration.

The story kept my interest for sure, but the narration was terrible! I live one hour north of New Orleans and have been to Natchez, MS many times. WE DO NOT TALK LIKE THAT. And, there was every southern cliche you can imagine. I almost gave up.

Where does Blood Memory rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Loved this book! The plot kept twisting and twisting as more and more characters were introduced. I would think that I had the solution and then there would be another twist!

Yes. Great listen. Excellent story. Reader voices, accents, and pace were all good.

No.

An unfolding drama with many plot twists

The story moves at a steady pace but seems to drag and then rush forward, depending upon events. It became a roller coaster ride of emotions and actions. I could never guess what was next! The setting was vivid and the reader brought it to life.

Where does Blood Memory rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book was utterly captivating and held my attention all the way through. Takes a theory I have had and shows the downside to taking the law in your own hand and not pursuing every detail to the end to get your facts straight before taking action

my 2nd time to read this book. I truly thank Mr. miles for bring this story to light. very personal and releasing.

Very emotional

I couldn’t put this book down. The subject child molestation is hard breaking. Thank to author for bringing with this story awareness of unspeakable things happening around us. Maybe this story one day will help us to see things which very often we are oblivious about.

If you can get around the HORRIBLE southern accents of the narrator (and also mispronunciations of scientific terms) then the book is pretty good. First part is slow, but the second and third parts go so fast that it's worth it.

Would you listen to Blood Memory again? Why?

The narrator always makes a story come alive. This narrator was excellent! Her voice brought a certain fierceness to the southern girl, Cat Ferry. I am a Louisiana girl and the description of everything was portrayed perfectly. This story has so many layers and they are revealed in such a way that it keeps the listener engaged. There is honestly never a dull moment!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Blood Memory?

I do not want to give too much away. One of the most memorable moments are the constant conversations with her grandfather. The epiphanies she has as he speaks, breathes, and lies!

What about Joyce Bean’s performance did you like?

Loved her accent! It didn't seem to over the top like some narrators. You can tell some narrators are clearly faking the accent. Her southern accent doesn't sound rehearsed. Very natural and pleasant. It made listening very easy to this southerner.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh, think, and shake my head at the depravity.
