Thrilling unputdownable page turner

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

didn’t know anything about Tim Tigner three days ago but now, after spending almost 11 hours with Betrayal, I can’t wait to get my hands on more of his books.

Betrayal follows the story of FBI Agent Odysseus ”Odi” Carr, his twin sister FBI Negotiator Cassandra ”Cassi” Carr and some pretty powerful and ruthless figures high up in the United States Government.

After a botched mission in Iran, Odysseus finds himself the lone survivor of his FBI Special Operations team. Gravely wounded, Odi is befriended by a mysterious Medical Doctor that will help with his recovery and will also provide important information about the failed mission. It seems that the fact that Odi is alive is just pure luck.

Consulting with his new friend, Odi discovers that his boss in the US Government has sacrificed the entire FBI team just to put in motion a series of events that will change the World as we know it. Long story short because I’m trying to avoid spoilers, Odysseus returns to the United States and starts to enact revenge on those responsible for this horrific betrayal.

In the US, his sister, Cassandra, although grieving for her brother, presumed dead, is in love with the FBI Director and hopes to get married, while this man is driven by the obsession to become the next President of the United States. From this point on, Mr. Tigner is amping the action to the max and delivers an excellent thriller, with plot lines touching on Al-Qaeda, terrorism, betrayal and corruption at high level . But, I will not say anything more about the story, better for you to find out on your own.

I really cared about the Carr twins and cheered them on for the duration of the entire adventure. I liked that the story is told from multiple points of view and another thing I liked about Betrayal was the fact that the book isn’t at all predictable, keeping you on the edge of your seat even when you are tired, making you kid yourself saying breathlessly ”just one more chapter”.

If you ask me to compare Tim Tigner to some other author out there I’d say just this: I love Lee Child, but I had better entertainment listening to Betrayal then I did with the last two Reacher novels combined.

In just a few descriptive words, Betrayal is immersive, fast paced, thrilling, action packed, unputdownable, a page turner.

The audiobook is performed by Dick Hill and I have the distinct impression that he really enjoys narrating Mr. Tigner’s works. I said it countless times and here I am saying it again, Dick Hill is amazing! He reads with professionalism and passion, gives life to the entire cast, keeping them easily differentiated in the listeners mind with different accents and voices delivering an excellent overall performance. I’d recommend the audio version over the printed one because Dick makes an already excellent story even more interesting, captivating and intense.

Can't trust anybody!

"Betrayal" is the perfect name for this book--so much of it happening all around! Death in battle is one thing, death by betrayal just doesn't sit well. So Odie is out to find out who got his team killed. And Odie has more skills than most people, so you know he can do it! Lots of excitement, turn-arounds, and action. Some nasty gore but it fits in, and you know, some people need to be dead.

This is one of Dick Hill's better narrations. I don't know why his readings are so inconsistent, but here he sounds good, without the shaky, palsied, wheezing old smoker's painful breaths.

This book was good enough that I immediately bought the next book by Tigner (but it's not about the same people.) Very satisfying.

Awesomeness

I have to say, this author does a great job at keeping out the stupid. Both books kept me riveted and not once did my eyes roll into the back of my head.

Compelling political and espionage thriller!

Betrayal matches or exceeds the intensity of suspense of any book I have ever read. The plot is amazingly sophisticated. Tim Tigner established himself near the top of his craft with this story. Dick Hill narrates beautifully. I very highly recommend this Audible book..

Worth to read

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Actually, I already did even before I finished reading. She seems to enjoy it too.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Very well written. Although I though I knew how the story was going to continue, author kept changing directions. Even though at times the plot looked a bit exaggerated, I think author kept it believable enough, while still being able to surprise reader with new lines.

Which scene was your favorite?

Description of how Creamer worked.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would say yes. I usually only listen to books at gym, but this book made me continue listening while driving home.

What made the experience of listening to Betrayal the most enjoyable?

Fast Paced
Unusual story

What did you like best about this story?

I really didn't know what was coming up or how the story was going to end. Can't really say my real thoughts as I journeyed through the story as it would give it away, but it wasn't the usual goodies & baddies story .

Which character – as performed by Dick Hill – was your favorite?

I got caught up in both the hero and heroin roles.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

This would give away the plot.

Any additional comments?

Fantastic book.
Would love to see the hero return in a sequel.

Welcome Tim Tigner

Any additional comments?

Really good story - excellent narrator. I'm so happy - I was starting to feel I'd run out of books having read every book by a large number of authors. Them along comes Tim Tigner - only two others on Audible. One which I purchased, the other is in my wish list waiting for Audible to have a 'buy 4, get $10 credit special" - it's only just over 4 hours and I want longer books if I am going to spend a credit. I hope there are more in the queue. Suspenseful, some characters I really liked. Only reason I gave the "story" a slightly lower rating is because I have trouble believing that people like the evil Stuart or weak and nakedly ambitious Wylie really get as far as these two do in Washington and get away with murder. I found the plot original and creative and as always - Dick Hill is GREAT. Welcome Tim Tigner.

Great Story

I had never heard of this author before, but decided to take a chance because the book summary sounded interesting and I love Dick Hill. I'm so glad I did! The story was an interesting mix of relationships and action. I really enjoyed the male/female twin heroes. I look forward to Mt. Tigner's next book.
