Publisher's Summary

I kill people for a living. If they're lucky, I only have to rough them up. It's rare they're lucky.

I know I work for a tyrant. Anyone who has the misfortune of getting on George Lynch's bad side should know their days are numbered. I'm the gun in his holster, the one he draws to take care of 'problems'. The one he uses so he doesn't have to get his hands dirty.

George saved me from a life of crime that would have landed me in jail. Now I commit even worse crimes that would earn me the death penalty if I ever got caught. George has me under his thumb. I guess we're both lucky that I never get tired of killing.

That's why I don't understand why he assigned me this little project. Kidnap a girl and keep her locked away in one of his houses with all the creature comforts like some pampered pet.

The job was supposed to be easy. Kendall was supposed to be a submissive little mouse. I thought she would obey my every command.

I was wrong.

Now I'm caught up in something that could cost me everything. Having to choose between love and my very life. Is it even worth it? Because who could ever love a beast?

This is a standalone story with no cheating and a happily ever after ending.

Captivating from the Start

Powerful. A complex story, this isn't something everyone will understand, but the author does a great job of giving us insight into why Beast and Kendall do what they do. This book is so much more than a twist on Beauty and the Beast. It breaks everything apart and create something both dark and beautiful. Kendall and Beast have this magnetic heat and chemistry, plus a devotion that is so deep. The tension remained high throughout, and I certainly couldn't wait to continue. The writing is well done, characterization is excellent, and I recommend grabbing this audiobook.

Why are bad boys so hot?

Kendall is a fantastic character, put in a situation where most people would crumble instead she stands up for herself and refuses to be dictated to. It creates some interesting situations.

Beast is a very bad boy, an assassin for the last 10 years he's not the sort of person you want to end up in contact with. Yet he has distinct morals which seems like it should be a contradiction and yet it works.

The story line is interesting, the chemistry is there and it's a quick listen. In fact the only thing I'd change is the length, I'd have liked it if it was longer.

The narration is well done, good character voices and a nice natural delivery.

Loved the narrator!

I love when male narrators have a growl in their voice. Narration for all characters were amazing and I enjoyed the story. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Beasty...

This was a shorter read. That is not a bad thing, just doesn't give us as much time to get invested as a longer read. Story was good- Narration was good :) This is a standalone book. Assassin kidnaps girl, falls in love with girl and then must choose.

Beast a hitman and Belle his target.

What if the Beast was a hitman and Belle was his target?

Beast is a Standalone by Sky Corgan.

♥ Story ♥

Beast is packed with action! The hero and heroine are both strong resourceful individuals. It’s a fresh take on the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale.

Sky Corgan is normally known for her more racier reads, but this one is more action than spice. If you don’t like hot sex and dirty talk you can just skip chapter 8, and you should be good.

Dyson Fidler is a hitman. His current job is to acquire the daughter of renowned scientist and keep her hidden in a secure hideout in the middle of no where. Obtaining his target was easy. Maintaining her is proving to be difficult. Avoiding falling in love is impossible.

The Beast has problems because his boss will not accept failure. It could comes down to his life or Kendall’s, and he knows he won’t be able to end hers.

In true beauty and the beast fashion (Belle) Kendall’s father is most times lost in his inventions, except this one is actually a success! Everyone wants to get their hands on it, and some are willing to go to ANY measure to get it. Kendall and her father flee to a remote hideaway, but not remote enough to stop the Beast.

In the hands of the Beast, she doesn’t cower. She is determined to rescue herself. She isn’t without honor though. When he comes to her rescue, she can’t leave him to die, and thus begins their true story.

I love the use of modern day science to tell this adaptation of a classic fairy tale. It makes the story more real. The sexy fun times in the middle make it even better. The new twists keep it fresh and make it a great listen.

♥ Author ♥

Not as sexy of a listen by Sky Corgan as some of her other titles but it was still Hot! In exchange for some of the heat we get more action.

♥ Narrator(s) ♥

Nathan Glondys was excellent. He performed both male and female characters well. He also managed to give side characters their own unique voice too.

An okay quick read

Based upon the sexy, gritty cover, I was under the impression that this was going to be a really erotic book, which I’ll admit had me worried considering I’m not a big fan of that sub-genre. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised and relieved by how sweet this story was; psychological even. No raw, dirty sex scenes here! The sweetness comes from the way the two lead characters interact. Beast is tasked to kidnap Kendall for a week or so until his boss can pressure her father into giving him what he wants. He’s a hitman not used this kind of minuscule job, but he does it anyways.

Kendall is tenacious and strong considering the situation she’s put in, but other times, she shows her age by acting bratty and naive. Beast himself turned into this weak, stupid boy who was the complete opposite of the way he was introduced: intense, burly, vicious. He’s an assassin, after all! Clearly a Stockholm syndrome story, but not exactly a terrible one, Beast and Kendall form a connection. He’s fairly kind and attentive to her while he watches over her in the house. So the mutual affection and love that arises can be more or less easily accepted. The author includes good detail and explanation that helps to make their chemistry and relationship believable. Corgan nicely pulled off a slow burn romance in this novella.

The narration had room for improvement. I kept switching between the narration speeds to find one that sounded good, but they all seemed a bit off. After a little while, I forgot about it and it didn’t affect my listening experience as much. I did like the way he voiced Beast though.

Just wasn’t for me

I had a difficult time finishing this one and it’s only a few hours long. The story didn’t hold my attention and the narration, while not awful, was not great, either. I received a review copy at my request and voluntarily reviewed.

Modern Beauty And The Beast

Beast is a modern version of Beauty And The Beast. Overall I enjoyed the storyline in this short listen. I liked Dyson's transformation and Kendall's spunk and determination. Choosing between life and love really isn't difficult because without love, there is no life. The narration was well done and added to my enjoyment. I would recommend Beast.
