Publisher's summary

Kidnappers have snatched the teenage son of super-star golfer Linda Coldren and her husband, Jack, an aging pro, at the height of the U.S. Open. To help get the boy back, sports agent Myron Bolitar goes charging after clues and suspects from the Main Line mansions to a downtown cheaters’ motel - and back in time to a U.S. Open 23 years ago, when Jack Coldren should have won, but didn't.

Suddenly Myron finds him self surrounded by blue bloods, criminals, and liars. And as one family's darkest secrets explode into murder, Myron finds out just how rough this game can get.

In novels that crackle with wit and suspense, Edgar Award winner Harlan Coben has created one of the most fascinating and complex heroes in suspense fiction - Myron Bolitar - a hotheaded, tenderhearted sports agent who grows more and more engaging and unpredictable with each pause-resisting appearance.

Critic reviews

"Another winner....Pungent observations, indelibly drawn characters and a twisting, surprise-laden plot." (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)

“Sharp plotting and emotional density, as well as nonstop wisecracks.” (Publishers Weekly)

Brilliant narrator!

Gets into character and change his voice exactly the same every time! Great series, follow all the books-worth it!

It’s All About The MOTIVE

I love the members only 80% off sale as we get to choose what we like. I picked up a couple of the Myron Bolitar series, and this one had humor, well sarcasm, which I love. I think it takes a quick mine from an author to be able to write it well in a story.
Reviewer Shelly recommends you start a good series in order, I unfortunately very seldom do that, because I’m impatient, and generally read stories in the series that have the characters fully developed. Then when l run out of the bestsellers then l go back and fill in the series as l have done here. This story was a long one and I thought why is that hence my title!

You won't know the whole story until the last word.

The reader was great. The story almost had too many plot twists. Almost. One of the best MB books I've read

Harlan Coben is the best

Pretty much Harlan Coben writes the kind of books you can not put down. The characters are my absolute favorite, in any mystery books. I’m all in on him

Good book, very good series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. This is a great series very well done by the reader. If you like well done light mysteries, you should like this.

What about Jonathan Marosz’s performance did you like?

The voices make it easy to follow which characters are speaking.

Four!!

I continue to be pleased with this series as it continues and the characters' idiosyncrasies begin to show themselves. Not only is there the knowledge of each sport to take in, Coben weaves the high pressure of pro sports Seemlessly with the character's struggles both past and present. Marosz continues to delight as narrator.
