Publisher's summary

An elite Iranian military unit. A missing tactical nuclear weapon. An aging Vietnam vet with a taste for violence.

It began when an FBI informant was brutally gunned down outside a soccer stadium.

A tactical nuclear weapon has gone missing somewhere in the Middle East and is thought to have been smuggled into the United States by a small group of Iranian terrorists intent on chaos and destruction. The target? Unknown, but the FBI’s local director is convinced that it’s the Sequoya nuclear plant and that the clock is ticking. Convinced that the threat is real and that his only link to the terrorists is Harry Starke’s nemesis, Shady Tree, he turns to Harry for help. But Harry has demons of his own to deal with, and the hunt for Tree quickly turns into a race against time.

Apocalypse is the 13th stand-alone novel in a series of hard-boiled thrillers. If you like tough-as-nails heroes and twists you won’t see coming, then you’ll love Blair Howard’s latest gritty, edge-of-your-seat thriller.

too sensational

The story is intense and compelling, but too over the top sensational and unbelievable. The finger- I just don't see that happening, and that's the most believable in this fantasy. Let's get Harry back to believable fantasy!!! I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.

Another Harry Starke adventure!

Apocalypse is one of many volumes in the Harry Starke series. This scenario involves Harry, his arch enemy Shady Tree, and missing backpack nuclear devices. The nuclear devices are in the Middle East and a nuclear power plant appears to be the target. Harry is convinced to go after Shady, find the devices, and stop Whatever plans are in place. No problem right? Seems to be a typical Harry Starke adventure. This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.

An intense thriller and mystery

Apocalypse takes the action and the turns it up a notch when Harry Starke finds himself on a race against time looking for an old enemy to stop a nuclear bomb. The book is really intense and good, though perhaps a bit far fetched at times. I have to wonder how things will resolve themselves after the ending of the book as it leaves some pretty major loose ends. I find Harry has gotten much more palatable since he settled down.

The narrator does a good job with the books, and has a rough detective like voice. I feel like he sounds a little old for the character, but that's a matter of personal preference.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Outstanding!!!

Blair Howard pulls me in with all of his Harry Starke stories. I had read this book before listening to it, so I can truly say the audio version is even better. Tom Lennon has a wonderful knack for delivering perfect timing and having his voice fit the characters. I love it when a narrator is able to perform various characters with distinguishable voices. The imagery in this book is outstanding, and some of the events are very plausible. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

JUST PLAIN AWESOME!

I've read the first 3 books in the Harry Starke series, and have been a fan ever since!
This is Book 13, and I'm not stopping now! ;)

Love Harry's character, everything you'd want - very complex man :)
Action packed series, great writing, and love Tom Lennon's narration - spot on!

This is one that you'll read (or listen to) straight through after starting.. you won't want to put it down.
Highly recommended :)

Better than expected

I enjoyed this book much more than Calypso. The narrator seems to have found a good pace for telling the story. This book was full of action, good vs evil, a bomb, and plenty of shooting. It's more of an adventure novel than a mystery novel. The characters are well developed and some characters from previous novels reappear in this story. I liked the ending and the justice served. Good book.
