Publisher's summary

Will Reggie's psychic abilities be strong enough to prove her innocence and stop a killer who's marked her for death?

Clipped by a speeding car as she crosses her street in Boston's South End, Regina Cutter gratefully accepts the help of her new upstairs tenant, Steven Damelin, a single young financial analyst. Reggie is surprised to learn from him that her late Aunt Jo, who was also a psychic, was involved in a "deal" with Steven shortly before her death. But before Reggie can learn specifics, Steven is brutally murdered in the upstairs flat, and Reggie's own front door is smeared with blood marks that look like Chinese characters.

Reggie has used her psychic powers before to help the Boston P.D., but the homicide detective assigned to Steven's case not only lacks faith in her abilities but also makes it clear that she's not above suspicion. On the defensive and relegated to the sidelines, Reggie resolves to find the murderer, who may already have picked her as the next victim.

Ok Read

This book was almost good, but I just didn't feel like it quite made it there. I like mystery/suspense, but I didn't feel that the development of the suspects were there and when the 'whodunit' was finally revealed, my response was more of a 'whocares'. I enjoyed the trip to get there, but any of the characters could have done it. I didn't really look back and think' Oh Yeah, now I see how it only could have been this character." So, it gets 3 stars.

Modern Version of a Classic Mystery

Would you listen to All in One Piece again? Why?

Yes, I own many reads by Ms Fields. I don't really get into the authors, but the synopsis/ reviews I find that Anna reads. She read this story at a fast pace which was a bit reminiscent of the old Dashiell Hammett type stories. This one will not disappoint. Now if you are a hard core mystery listener, beware. This was pure entertainment, not the best literary mystery.

What was one of the most memorable moments of All in One Piece?

When, our heroine, finds Stephen! Whoa. There was humor with Stark and Biscuit, and a trail of characters which lead you on a merry chase.

What does Anna Fields bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

YOU buy these books/authors JUST because the late great Anna Fields reads them. If you are a romance reader, See Susan Elizabeth Phillips series.

Any additional comments?

The price is not bad, and if you buy on the 50% sale, do as I do, and load up on Ms Fields reads.

A NEW AUTHOR TO ENJOY

I'm always happy to discover a new author that I haven't read yet. This was a very good listen. A good mystery, humorous at times, and a good story line. Anna Fields is also one of my favorite readers to listen to. I am now getting the first book in this series which I haven't yet read and I will be awaiting the next book in the series to come out.

Paranormal mystery

Like the previous reviewer I love discovering new authors on Audible. This audiobook has a great combination of writing and narration that make it a wonderful, enjoyable listen. Reggie Cutter has psychic abilities and when she finds her upstairs tenant murdered she hopes the police will ask her to help with the case. Instead they seem to consider her a suspect so she winds up investigating on her own. A great amateur sleuth mystery with a litte psychic twist. Fun listen that really kept me riveted!

Tense and Exciting

Would you consider the audio edition of All in One Piece to be better than the print version?

I love audio books. I love listening to them at bedtime and not having to read. So, from that standpoint, I consider the audio better than the book. And, I love the personal feel of hearing the voice.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

It was a fast moving constantly changing suspenseful plot. I liked the psychic elements that helped move the story along and foreshadow events without revealing too much in advance.

Have you listened to any of Anna Fields’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to Anna Fields performances before, but she did a great job.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It did all the things that suspenseful mysteries are supposed to do. Love it.

Any additional comments?

I would definitely read more books by this author and highly recommend her work.
