Sookie Stackhouse

They are making a pilot out of this series called True Blood on HBO. It is a light and funny series with a lot of adventure that I started listening to in the middle with Dead as a Doornail with Audible. I did go out and get the earlier books to read to bring myself up to date. I would love to have the entire series available on Audible. Even though each book stands on its own it is better starting at the beginning, you get more of a feel on the history of the characters. If you are looking for something entertaining you will enjoy this series.

My favorite so far!

I started out as a fan of True Blood and then started reading the books. The first few were good, but I wasn't sure they'd hold my interest. They really started to grow on me as the characters developed and kept coming back time and time again. This one is my favorite so far - but you have to read them in order to get it! Don't skip, it's worth the wait! There were times I worried about Sookie while I was away from my audio - feeling like I left her stranded because I couldn't hear what happened next! That's what I love in an audio book. I can't wait to drive home and hear more.

Blood Ties

I thought this was another exceptional Sookie book. This seventh Sookie Stackhouse book mostly takes place at the vampire summit that Sookie is sort of required to attend. There are lots of twists and turns as all the books have and this one was a real page turner. Sookie is forced into a blood tie with a vampire that starts you wondering who will her true love finally be? Eric? Bill? Quinn?....... Make sure if you are new to the series you start at the beginning. They can be read on their own but in my opinion there is too much history you need in order to appreciate where Sookie is going.

Have a bite of this predictable tale

I bought this title because Audible said that vampire/werewolf romance/action novels are becomming more popular. This story is somewhat predictable, even though the author does try to keep you from guessing the end. I REALLY like Sookie - the main character - although I don't like some of the transformations she goes through. The story does fully stand on its own - I had no idea this is book 7 in the Sookie S. series.

I don't feel creeped out after listening - this isn't one of those type of vamp novels. It's just a good story with fair to good characters.

One nice thing - the reader does do a very good job with some of the character voices and scenes. I did feel like I was in New Orleans at points in the story.

A Can't Miss Read!

Sookie Stackhouse Series is a MUST read! I have listened/read all of the Sookie Stackhouse mysteries, 1 - 8. I enjoyed every single one of them. The writing is good, clear, suspenseful and humorous. The narrator, Johanna Parker, does some of the best narrating I have heard...exactly the way I would presume Sookie Stackhouse would sound. You can't go wrong with this series. I CAN'T WAIT until installment NINE!!

one of my favorite books in the Sookie series

This was actually one of my favorite books in the Sookie series. I love Eric and like the books where we get to know more about him. If you enjoyed the rest of the series then you should like this one as well. As always great narration and good plot.

Best yet

I love all the Sookie Stackhouse series but this is my favorite book with all the action, adventure and insight into Sookie's world including her men. I only listen to the series through audible.com because the narrator is so good I can't imagine just reading any of the series instead of listening.

Good story read flatly

I began reading the Sookie Stackhouse series before I discovered audible, so I was hooked before ever hearing narrator's monotone drawl. The narration is distractingly irritating to me, in part, because it conveys a main character who is more resigned and less humorous than the one that I read in the books. That being said, the stories are still amusing.

Favorite so far!

I think this was my favorite book of the series - and I really liked most of the books in this series! The plot was very engaging, and suspenseful, and there was a lot of plotting and conniving to be figured out. There wasn't so much of the sex as in some of the other books, but it didn't take away from the story at all.

The story seemed much more mature than some of the earlier ones - there was actually a story involved, not just Sookie finding and/or losing her latest lover. Sookie is much more mature now, and the story had her having some growth too, so she's not as naive as she has been in other books. Quite nice, actually, to see a character still have some room to grow after 7 books.

The narration is spot-on.

Bad Narration/Simplistic writing

The narrator's imitations of male voices is annoying. The story line is virtually all dialogue with no character development. If you just like reading about vampires and other creatures without regard to story development, this book is for you.
