Okay world, so-so writing, terrible narration...

This was okay. Not bad, not particularly good.

I did come pick up book 1 without reading book 2, but the opening scene is set pretty well so I gather what's going on ... as it goes on, there is a lot of redundancy, to the point that I'm glad I didn't read book 1, because repetition isn't exciting to me.

The writing is pretty weak. The storytelling isn't bad and the world-building is okay, with more practice, I think the author could improve their craft, but I'm not excited to read anything else by them any time soon.

Overall, I'd rate this as "it's okay", 2 stars.

Audio:
I listened to the audiobook and I strongly advise against doing the same unless you enjoy robots speaking. It's absolutely awful. Sounds 100% like AI. I cannot believe an actual person narrated this. If one really did, they should work on their delivery, or something. I've listened to actual AI-read documents that sounded more human than this "narrator" did. Is it possible this "narrator" is AI that someone is presenting as a person? That sounds insane but ... this audiobook sounds completely like a robot or AI read it so ... here we are.

ZERO stars on the narration.

The narration is terrible

Interesting story line but the narration sounds like a robot with too many words mispronounced.
