Publisher's summary

When Mac Faraday decides to do something, there's no stopping him...even murder!

Not wanting to wait until their big day to start their life of wedded bliss, Mac Faraday and his lady love, Archie Monday, decide to elope to the little church where his ancestors had all married - along the tranquil shore of Deep Creek Lake. However, before they can say "I do", the sanctuary erupts into chaos when Gnarly finds a dead body in the church office.

As they dive into the investigation, Mac and his team discover more questions than answers. What kind of person walks into a church and shoots a man for no apparent reason? How do you solve the murder of a man who has no enemies in the world? Which of the seemingly kind-hearted church members is really a cold-blooded killer?

Then, there is the all-important question, how long do Mac Faraday and his lady love have to wait to get married?

Plus, a special bonus feature: "The Gnarly Rehabilitation Program (A Gnarly Mystery Short)". Bert and Ernie learn the hard way that crime does not pay when they dog-nap Gnarly.

very good!!

I loved this book with its twists and turns, and how well it was written. This author uses all of the senses in her story telling and doesn't give away the plot twists too soon. There is tension at some level throughout. Highly recommend. Fabulous read"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review

My What a case

If you are looking for a book that will spice up the beginning of your book or story. Well, “A Wedding and a Killing” is a good one that does just that. Mac and his lady decide to get married in the Spencer Church.

It starts once Gnarly jumps out of the car, runs, and barks at the door, which everyone invited to the wedding for Mac and Archie. They realize that Gnarly will not stop barking to get their attention.

Gnarly seems to be trying to get their attention. When no one is paying attention, He will not leave that door. Once someone goes to the door and opens it, Gnarly finds a dead body. It gets chaotic and brings everyone from the church’s sanctuary as Mac and Archie seem in an argument over Gnarly being there. It seems to bring action when they find a murder occurred.

Who would kill a man with no enemies? Who volunteers for the church. When Gnarly finds a dead body, it brings Mac to team up with David and dives into the investigation. But how long will it take? How long will Mac have to wait to get married to Archie? We seem to get more murders and twists and turns. What happens when Ruth and her daughter get brought in. Will Ruth be framed for murder and her husband? Who killed Jason Fairbanks. We seem to have two cases that interlope, and Mac wants to help and defend Ruth.

Once you start reading Lauren Carr’s books, you will want more of them. You can read any of her books in any order and as a standalone. You will want to read more by finding one of her books or audiobooks. Great for any mystery fan, murder mystery, or even thriller fan.

How are these books not a TV series!!!

Any additional comments?

I'm going to start a one-woman campaign to get the Mac Faraday books turned into a TV series. How has that not happened?! Every single character in this series is likable and relatable. The mysteries are some of the best ever written with serious twists and turns but all of them making perfect sense.

There were two mysteries with this listen. I figured out the first pretty quickly but the second one took me a bit.

I really, really enjoyed how much religion was interspersed into the story. It wasn't "preachy" but just gave a nod to the design in the random our world is. Respect.

Death at the Church

Pretty good story. I started with book 8 and i feel I would have a better understanding of the characters if i had started from the beginning but still good story. Narration was good. I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book

Any additional comments?

This was the first book I listened to in this series and I really love it as much as the other series I'm following by same author/narrator. I like catching up with the characters as these stories are before my series. The author makes these books so that they are hard to put down. Add a great narrator and my favorite thing happens, I crawl inside the book! Good job. I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.

Another Great Mystery!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I really like the Mac Faraday mysteries. The characters are richly developed and the story is always great to listen to. This is my second Mac Faraday audiobook and I hope to listen to all of them. I am hooked.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved Carmine. He was so sweet and so engaging. He made me laugh several times. Even though he is not a hugely involved character, I really enjoyed the times he appeared in the story.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Carmine goes into the police department to confess to the murder I laughed so hard. The scene was so well written and I had to listen to it a couple of times. Lauren Carr writes so wonderfully and I loved the voice C. J. McAllister chose for this character.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A Terrific Whodunit!

Fishing for Clues

You can't fool me. If there is a "#8" in the title this might not be the first book in the series. But it was the first "Mac Faraday" for me, and I plunged right into this humor-laden tale. Alright, the beginning is anything BUT funny--an abused wife and child are making their escape when suddenly a shot (or two) rang out. But that's not the killing that interrupts the wedding.

Disclaimer: "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review." The description intrigued, the narration was smooth with distinctive vocal characterization, and the story captivated and satisfied.
