Good read after Sookie's series

I have listened to all nine Sookie books and very much enjoyed them. Listening to this collection of storries helped to fill in a few holes that seemed to be evident in the series. That was great! Alas,I fear that just listening to the short stories without the knowledge of the series ahead of time would not be best introduction to a new reader. The stories might wet one's tongue for more but also give some details of the books in the series away. Read the book after the series.

Fairy Dust AFTER Dead to the World (#4)
Dracula Night after Dead to the World (#4)
One Word Answer after Definitely Dead* (#6)
Lucky after Altogether Dead (#7)
Gift Wrap after From Dead to Worse (#8)

*considered essential backstory to next installment

These are enjoyable light reading, but I accidentally revealed some spoilers to myself and I wouldn't want others to make the same mistake!

Johanna Parker

I have listened to alot of audio books and she is one of the best readers! Some of these books are read by another but don't do it. Johanna has a wonderful southern accent that makes you feel as though you are really there listening to Sookie talk. She reads with emotion which also makes the stories come to life.

A Touch of Sookie

OK I'll admit it - I am a Sookie Stackhouse junkie. After finding this series this past summer and listening to all 9 of the books in a non-stop 3-week marathon I just can't get enough of her stories. I had not read any of the short stories so this book was like a little taste of candy to help hold me over until next May and book #10.

The familiar voices of the most excellent Johanna Parker (hint - listen to anything she narrates!) make the stories seem like letters from family. They also fill in some of the little incidental references in the books.

All in all, it was a very enjoyable visit with beloved old friends.

Waiting sucks

I love these short stories. It really helps soothe the waiting pains between her books. I really enjoyed Dracula night.

If you enjoy the Southern Vampire Mystery series, i would say this is an essential download.

If you love Sookie Stackhouse then you will love this collection of Sookie short stories.
Some fill in gaps from the books, and other are just delightful to listen to.
The narrator is the same from the novels and does her typical great job.

A must for readers of the Sookie Stackhouse series. If you haven't read any of the novels, I would advise listening to the novels first, so you know all the characters and circumstances.

This collection of stories was fun and imaginative. It's a great way to re-connect with Sookie while waiting for the most current book to be released. Don't expect these short stories to bring you on a long, in-depth journey in the world of Sookie. Instead, they are just little fun events that give you a little more insight into Sookie and her friends. If I had to sum it up in one word, I would say it's "charming."

Love this series!

Same author, short stories. They did add to the story line well, although with all the stories combined, you don't know where the short stories should be inserted in the series. It would have been nice if they had added a "Comes after book 2" in between stories, so you could possibly play the series in order with the short stories in the right places. You have to put a lot of thought and research into without that help. Can't wait for the next one.

Charlaine Harris is an amazing talented writer

Like the entire series written by this talented writer, not a disappointing book in any way. The story line get's you hooked from the very beginning and finishes with you wanting more. I just hope there will be more to the series as i am totally addicted to the series.

Just the right touch

This audio book contains five unabridged short stories featuring the characters from the best-selling Sookie Stackhouse series. If you enjoy stories featuring vampires, fairies, witches and werewolves, you can't go wrong with this. It fills in the gaps between the main novels, but can be enjoyed as a stand-alone. A must-listen for Sookie Stackhouse fans and newcomers alike.

A touch of new stories

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I've read all the full length books quite a while ago and it was good to get some new material to enjoy. These didn't really spoil any of the other books if you hadn't read the whole series and I could remember characters from previously.

What does Johanna Parker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I wish I'd listened to all the main books instead of reading them as Johanna Parker gave me the southern accents and the correct way of pronouncing the character names!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, as it was seperate short stories it's nice to experience them one at a time!

This book is very entertaining and I could not sto

This book is very entertaining and I could not stop until I had read the whole book. I loved the mix of characters and the plot of the book. You can listen to the book whilst basking in the sun in the park or whilst taking a walk. Absolutely beautiful.
