When Charlie's body is found in the stables, the inhabitants of Taviscombe are appalled and disturbed. His death is the beginning of a succession of unexplained, sinister happenings, and with the local police at a loss, it is left to Sheila to get to the bottom of the mystery.
Story moves on quite well and holds one's interest to the final chapters but the denouement seems contrived and rather far fetched, which spoils the preceding story. I often feel that this author rushes the ending of her books and this one is no exception, the story loses stars for the ending.
The reading is reasonable.
