Publisher's Summary

The only female detective in the Miami PD's Homicide division, Joe Frye has memories that haunt her, and a past that not even her lover, detective Louis Kincaid, truly knows. It began when Joe was an ambitious rookie cop in a small Michigan town called Echo Bay. The bones found in the woods were the first clue in a string of unimaginably brutal murders of young women. Plunged into a heated investigation -- and caught between the dictates of a reluctant local sheriff and the state police -- Joe soon uncovers the chilling truth: In the dead of winter in the Michigan woods, she must face down a predator who has chosen her as a worthy opponent -- or become his next victim.

Kept me listening

This was not the most exciting murder mystery nor the most original. However, I found that it was good enough to keep me listening and not become bored. The plot moved along, the characters were fairly realistic for this genre. The narration was decent. I liked the fact that she didn't tie it all up with a perfect ending. I might try another one of this authors books in the future, she wont be on my top 10 list but it certainly wasnt a waste of points.

Excellent Read

Would you consider the audio edition of A Thousand Bones to be better than the print version?

I enjoyed listening to the audio edition. Suzanne Toren did a good job.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Thousand Bones?

When Joe and the other three had a decision to make.

Have you listened to any of Suzanne Toren’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first time listening to Suzanne Toren.

Any additional comments?

I liked this book so well, that I will be buying more of P.J. Parrish.

Not bad but not great. Good narration.

Possibly a little long winded and over exemplified at times but a good story none the less.

A mesmerising but bitter story

The story was as believable as it was breathtaking .. A good crime novel but makes sleeping a little difficult after.
