The depth of emotion.

The tragic intensity of all the familial relationships kept me on the edge of my seat!

a great read

Donna Leon again transports us to a world she helps us to better experience and understand. She successfully creates for us a compelling story. Her portrayal of characters is vivid, the tone poignant. With every book I appreciate Venice even more and feel more connection to Brunetti and to his colleagues and family. Well done!

Most definitely one of Leon’s best

This is most definitely one of the best novels in the Brunetti series, touchingly written. Colacci’s narration is superb.

Excellent story/excellent reader

However, the recorded volume was too low. We had to almost strain to hear parts of the book.

A Noble Tale

I enjoyed this book, Donna Leon's writing takes me away to Venice and adventures and sights and sounds of wonder.
I find David Colacci a steadfast guide with just enough drama and just enough relaxation to paint vivid pictures of all the characters I have come to care about.
I am thrilled to find these books available to listen to. It has made chemo so much easier for me.

Leon and Brunetti get better and better!

The characters are multi-dimensional; the story is mesmerizing; the ending, as always, is a total surprise. Can't beat David Colacci as the perfect narrator. May the series go on and on!

another good detective story of Donna Leon

The book - as many of Donna Leon books, is well written thriller story, that makes you keep reading/listening. very good when you have long drives or tedious tasks to do :-).
As in other books - the story reveals the holes in the justice as well as criticism on the Italian government.
It is well narrated and I found its 8+ hours well spent.
