Washington, DC, midday. A man waits at a bus stop, his intentions unknown. Two government operatives have been stalking him for days, waiting for him to make his move. Unexpectedly the man takes off running and heads for a deserted warehouse. Jack Noble and his partner, Frank Skinner, believe the man to be part of a terrorist organization that is involved in smuggling drugs, guns, and men into the country. But it turns out their plan involves far more export than import and hits a lot closer to home. As the case unfolds, the man behind it all reaches out to Jack with a simple message...37 hours.

This series has potential

A Deadly Distance, Book 2 in the Jack Noble series, is an interesting suspense mystery. The series is yet another case of an ex-elite military man now working for a super secret government agency without a name. It is better than some but worse thanothers of the genre. It is what I call good listening when I do not have 5 star mystery thrillers available. The series books have good plots, lots of action, suspense, and a likable protagonist. Narration is excellent.

Horrible narration.

The narrator is so bad that it ruins the story.
The story is a little transparent but may have been enjoyable were it not for the poor narration.

A Deadly Distance

I enjoyed Jack Noble more as a military man working with his sidekick"Bear". Now Jack i's attached to a group called SIS, a super- covert group of law enforcement members garnered from the FBI, CIA, and DEA. Their mission is to track down a child trafficking ring and bring the perpetrators to justice as well as track down the children to rescue them. Along the way, Jack becomes infatuated with a firefighter named Sarah, and ends up in plenty of physical fights, and he encountered plenty of life endangering situations. He ends up battered, without Sarah, and retiring from SIS. What's next for Jack?

Good book

This was a good book with a lot of suspense and action. I never thought it would turn out like it did. The narrator was also excellent. I really enjoyed this book.

Plodding

My conclusion can be summed up in the fact that, 90 minutes from the book’s end, I gave up on it and sent it back. I was not interested enough in the conclusion to stick around. The writing is mediocre; the narration disinterested; and the plot provokes both yawns and disbelief. I read (and think I liked) the first Noble book, but this one really disappointed.

Wow! So bad!!

I didn’t remember the series at all which should have been my first clue.
The first person narration of “badass black ops agents” by a dude who sounds like a timeshare salesman is just horrible. I don’t think I like the first person effort at all. I couldn’t even get through a half hour of it.

Noble Kids

Narrator was disappointing . The story was interesting but deviated from my normal type of thriller. Jack Noble is a solid character bound for extreme professional satisfaction and personal frustration.

Ready for the next one

Pretty good even though the ending definitely sucked. I played that last chapter four times before I found out I hadn't fallen asleep and missed the ending. THAT really was the way he ended it. Or at least the way he turned it in to a complaining
publisher that said it was taking too long.

Jack the jerk

Jack just seems like a hard man; I do blame the way he had to grow up but he embraced that anger lifestyle and he is good at what he does. Jack is also a perv. He can't manage to look at a single woman without thinking dirty thoughts. He is human and he tries to think of how he can best get out of each situation he gets in. I didn't think that I would continue with this series but after I read how this book ended, I think I'll keep going.
