Publisher's summary

They call him the Lovebird Killer, a merciless fiend unleashing a flood of unspeakable cruelty upon Sacramento’s most loving couples, young and old. This real-life monster’s reign of terror has left the city’s residents paralyzed with fear.

All but Lizzy Gardner. Because hiding from monsters isn’t Lizzy’s style, not since she faced the madman who kidnapped and terrorized her as a teenager. So when a routine workers’ compensation case suddenly leads her and her two young assistants onto the killer’s trail, Lizzy revels in the chase. She is determined to bring this psychopath to justice before he has the chance to claim another victim. She never imagines he could be two steps ahead, watching her every move and plotting his bloodiest, most triumphant conquest of all. He knows Lizzy won’t go down without a fight. And that’s just the way he likes it.…

Great Book! Did not want to put it down

If you could sum up A Dark Mind in three words, what would they be?

Amazing, Thriller, Action

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was a book I did not want to stop.

Any additional comments?

After readying the other reviews I almost didnt download it. There is nothing I hate more in a book that does not wrap everything up. For the person that made the comment about the couple being attacked by those guys. Please go back they did tell what happened to them and it was resolved. I'm not sure if you missed it or did not realize what happened.

the book does jump timelines quite a bit which was some times a little hard to follow but i would def recommend this book!

Unsettling

This was very intense! Ragan's use of actual serial killer quotes kept a deep dark loom over the whole story. The depth of creepy keeps you wondering about real life and makes you fee naïve about the most mundane tasks throughout the day. Love does conquer all but is what you have really love? So many grossly twisted dichotomies in this book.

Totally Unexpected

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

A real page turner ... I couldn't put it down.

What did you like best about this story?

Well done... I was not prepared prepared for the ending. With the additional insight provided by the people in the killer's life, I now see the beginning of the story in a whole new light.

Which character – as performed by Kate Rudd – was your favorite?

I enjoyed her portrayal of Haley. She made me feel the range of emotions that Haley felt, starting with her indifference after being released from prison, then her realization that joy was a possibility in life, ending with her crushing defeat and descent back into hopelessness when she discovers her mother death.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Only the lonely...

Any additional comments?

The quotes at the beginning of each chapter were well chosen and really creepy ... they site the tone for the book.

Great Series!

I truly enjoy the characters and how this isn't your typical "man-saves-the-day" hero story. can't wait to listen to the next one!

Best of the Series, so far

TR Ragan and Kate Rudd give this one a solid one-two punch. The Lovebird serial killer doesn't have a chance but almost gets his real target. Nope, not giving any more away.

Good sequel

Although the story line was hard to follow at times, overall it was a good book-really went out with a BANG!

couldn't put it down

Would you consider the audio edition of A Dark Mind to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the print

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Dark Mind?

This one was pretty dark. Could have done without some of the details.

Which character – as performed by Kate Rudd – was your favorite?

I would say Hailey, I suppose.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not so much.

Any additional comments?

Kate Rudd's narration is improving. Not quite as robotic.

Enjoyable Series

I have zipped right through all three Lizzy Gardner books and eagerly the fourth, coming out in July. The author does a good job with the story as well as the character development. I listened to this book in just 2 days; it immediately captured my attention and held it throughout. This book was more on par with the first book, having a single core plot rather than 2 parallel and a bit confusing stories in book 2, where I kept having to remind myself who was in which story thread.

I will warn readers, that while the mystery plot is a stand-alone, the character development is not. Reading books 1 and 2 first help the reader move with the characters as they are affected (or learn to deal with) the things that have happened to them and to their loved ones.

Definitely a good read/listen!
