Publisher's summary

When octogenarian sleuth Myrtle Clover discovers Naomi Pelter's dead body during a book club meeting, the other members seem shocked. But Myrtle can read between the lines. Naomi had riled everyone up by flirting with other people's husbands, arguing with neighbors, and generally making a nuisance of herself. Murdering troublemakers is the oldest trick in the book.

The book club members seem too sweet to be killers, but Myrtle knows better than to judge books by their covers. Myrtle's investigation into the murder will take a more novel approach than her police chief son's by-the-book methods. Can Myrtle and her widower sidekick uncover the killer...before he writes them off for good?

Best one yet...

Funny. Best book yet. This retired teacher is tired of the book club choosing vapid works that murder the English language, but when another murder takes place, it will take all her learned sleuthing skills to survive finding out who did it.

When a body is found murder at the book club. She knows there is a killer among them, the deceased was flirting with too many husbands. she is more than ready to solve. . The narration was good, clear voice and added to this story. Good series. Given audio for my voluntary review

The Book Club is Finally Interesting

Another day, another murder. At least, that's how it is in the small town of Bradley, North Carolina. In this sixth installment, Myrtle Clover finds yet another body. This time, it is the body of Naomi Pelter, one of the few eligible single women in the town. And though she seems all sugar, there's some spice underneath her charming exterior. That's probably why she ended up dead.

Myrtle hardly knew Naomi, despite her living in her neighborhood. When Red, Myrtle's police chief son, confirms that it is murder, Myrtle is determined once again to beat him and the state police to the answer. But things aren't so easy for Myrtle, especially once she begins to wade through the town's gossip mill to try and uncover motives. And as she gets closer to the answer, another body turns up. Now Myrtle must hurry to discover who the killer is before she's the next to turn up dead.

This Myrtle Clover book is one of the funniest that I have read. The climax had me crying I was laughing so hard. Yet the book managed to keep the tension at a nice, steady hum while I was laughing. The relationship between Miles and Myrtle is so sweet and it grows even more in this book. Their friendship is one reason I love reading this series. They are so different, yet they complement each other very well.

If you liked the other Myrtle Clover books, this is a great book to read. The mystery is exciting, the drama delightful, and Myrtle has as much spunk as ever. This book is one of the most fun reads I've had this year. If you want some laughter with your suspense and drama, this is the Myrtle Clover book for you.

Fun, 80+ Elderly Slueth, Funny

The second book in the series featuring Myrtle's book club, and....surprise....someone dies! I do these books for the Southern senior citizen humor.
