The Vermont Long Trail is a “pilgrimage of pain” like no other. A thru-hike is a grand adventure for those who have the physical and mental fortitude to attempt it. Most who do will fail. “Scribe” shares his most personal experiences on the nation’s first and most groundbreaking scenic long-distance hiking trail over three months riddled with comedy and blunder, from the highest highs to the lowest lows. This is a journey you won’t soon forget. Are you ready for one to call your own? Aire libre y Naturaleza Senderismo

Having hiked the LT in both directions, I am always interested in listening to other hikers stories. The book itself is fine, my problem is with the “virtual voice” as it’s called. While the voice itself (female with British accent) is pleasant, it is incapable of timely inflection, and seriously detracts from what at times was likely humorous scenarios. Also reading dates as fractions (September 12 [9/12] read as 9 halves), is just plain distracting. Also, the many references to the A.T. read as “at”…etc. Not sure how the process works, but if an author can record their own reading, or have a trusted friend do it for them, please do. Listeners like myself are for more likely to recommend books like this as it is a superior listening experience.

Book fine, narration annoying.
