Falling for the silver fox sheriff was never part of my healing plan… but neither was one unforgettable night that ruined me for anyone else.

It started with a spilled coffee.

It ended with his mouth on mine—and a kiss that left me breathless.

Chase Walker is everything I shouldn’t want.

Grieving. Guarded. Older.

The kind of man who carries scars he’ll never speak of.

But when those strong, capable hands claim my body like I’m the only thing he’s ever needed, I forget every reason I should stay away.

We’re messy. Raw. Addictive.

He’s fire, and I’m the fool who keeps striking the match.

Just when I start to believe we could have more than stolen moments and whispered promises, my past comes crashing back.

My ex is dangerous—and he wants revenge.

Now the man who makes me feel safe is the one at risk, and the town of Vanbay has secrets that are darker than I ever imagined.

Loving him might cost me everything.

But losing him? That would destroy me.

We’re a slow-burning disaster… And I’m not sure we’ll survive the explosion.

Virtual voice had no change between characters, cause confusion with recognizing who was talking. Story was okay.

Twists in story

I was really excited about a silver fox story…….then this monotone voice comes in and it’s difficult to follow because of the monotony.

The awful AI narration

The book may be ok, but the narration is horrible. I have tried virtual voice books over and over and only once was I able to finish the book. This, sadly was not one of them

This book is so terrible and terrible for many reasons. The way it’s written. The complete lack of understanding of how law enforcement works or how geography works. There are also so many little things that distract. Like one minute the sheriff (?) is dressed in civilian attire but the FMC is unbuttoning his uniform. Or how she lives in a small apartment that magically turns into a house with a veranda and sitting porch. This is semi-spoiler but suddenly there is Native American protests and random characters being constantly introduced. I’m not even going to touch on the romance or lack of. It is basically them hooking up and him constantly leaving to go do his sheriffing (I’m writing it that way because that is how the author writes) job. The virtual voice narration is so high pitched everyone sounds like child and with the elementary level writing – it is just so bad.

So bad just ridiculous
