A rollercoaster of a story

This is the story of two people with messed-up childhoods who come together despite class distinctions. They marry (not a spoiler) and then their lives take on a series of obstacles. Lots of obstacles. Sophia cares deeply for her younger brother and hopes to provide them both with a better life. She meets Nathan, the Duke of Scarsdale, who wants to save her from a horrible existence in her father's tavern. What happens from there is what gives the rollercoaster of emotions. The ending was a bit rushed, however.

I don't agree with the publishers review that Sophia is a hoyden.

The narration was quite good. So many times, male readers portray female voices as too high-pitched or whiny. Tim Campbell reads all the voices well.

What an emotional ride

Great storyline, well written characters and emotionally engaging. Julie Johnstone really allows her readers to feel the love, despair and anger throughout the book. I got so emotional in parts that I had to remind myself this is only a book. Someone's imaginations, so caaaaalm down. I'd rather get emotionally entangled in a book and feeling more than I wish to feel than not being able to wait to be done with it. A VERY enjoyable read. Purchase with confidence.

PREDICTABLE BUT OKAY!!

What made the experience of listening to My Seductive Innocent the most enjoyable?

Amelia her brother Harry's relationship!!

Would you be willing to try another book from Julie Johnstone? Why or why not?

Not Sure

What about Tim Campbell’s performance did you like?

Great Narration. Tim Campbell does an excellent job narrating the different characters and there accents.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I wouldn't make a movie of this book

Any additional comments?

The story started out very good but fell off the cliff fast. Someone is trying to kill The Duke of Scarsdale. During one of theses attempts he was nursed by Sophie Vane a tavern waitress. Her drunkard father Frank owned the tavern. Frank insists that Sophie and Scarsdale marry, because she was alone with him unclothe. His Shirt was off. Yeah right!! No Duke would marry a waitress working at a tavern no matter if she did save his life. Anyway to protect Sophie and her brother Harry from further physical abuse by there father Frank they marry. I liked all the characters but the story gets weighed now with Scarsdale kidnapping an torture. This goes on to long Then his escape and what he perceives as the betrayal of his wife Sophie. I wanted to just say at this point OK already get on with the romance. All these different dark scenarios detract from what could have been a very good romance and love story, between Sophie and Nathan. If you like stories with mistress and plots aplenty then My Seductive Innocent is for you. But for me it just missed the mark

OH NO

Any additional comments?

What a stupid book. Duke's don't marry tavern maids that they just met. Tavern maids do not speak as well as the one in in this book. This tavern maid has no redeeming qualities except that she loves her brother. The plot is stupid and unbelievable. In fact I found the H/h to be a major turn off. The violence and torture were disgusting and did not add anything to the story. I really wasted my money on this book,.

The Sins of Lord Kilgore v2

I was listening to this book and thinking how much these first two books mirrored the books in the other series. Scarsdale is another Kilgore... same issues, same personality quirks, same "sent away to torment/fake death by greedy cousin" plotline. Sure a few details were different, but it felt like I was reading a knock off of the other book. Not sure which was written first, but if it wasn't the same author I would have been crying plagiarism. Can you plagiarize your own book?

Seductive....

The most outlandish premise for a book, and the best mix of angst and fluff. Cinderella is an understatement. But it works in the same glorious way all Julie Johnstone books work.

Tim Campbell is wonderful as always.

Lots of heat!

Totally creditworthy.

Truly Excellent!

Julie Johnstone has yet to disappoint! Her stories are always full of romance and entertainment from start to finish! Her characters are life like and she really pulls me back to the setting as if I've personally seen and been to each location. In a great combination of skill, Tim Campbell voices a distinct personality to Johnstone's characters as if I were hearing each individual truly come to life and not the voice of just one man. I highly recommend any of their work, together or seperate!

Good book

I have read another book by this author that I really liked, so I decided to try this book. This story was a little slow to draw me in. Once I got into it, I did enjoy it. When I got to the end I was a little disappointed. The story had established a good pace, but the end felt a little rushed. Overall good book.
