Great sequel

This is a fine fantasy harem adventure novel. It is well written and edited. I especially like the Dire Wolf. I anxiously await the sequel.

Good story

Quite a good follow up to the first book and was quite well done in expanding the story and the universe within which the book resides

A couple more added to the family.

Jack and his crew are leveling up faster than anyone and others are starting to notice.
They are not just leveling themselves but others as well.
This FTB HaremLit adventure series is awesome and I'd let my teens read and listen to it.
Such amazing characters, worlds and adventures.
I can't wait for book 3!

This was an outstanding book two and I can’t wait for book three I love the fun fast pace that always keeps me hooked

second book keep the stroy growing

this book is a nice continuing on to the first one. the story the voice actors and the continuing growth at the main characters will keep you wanting to finish the book as soon as possible. it's a nice twist on the Harem Style. especially how they work together and they come together

The characters Shauna and Onyx are my favorite so far this series needs to be an anime series or movie I’d watch it for sure

this series is really starting to hit its stride

I enjoy portal books and this one is no exception. it's well balanced with the settings between earth and the other world. there's plenty of action, humor and now mystery. I'm really looking forward to more. the two narrators were great as always and are one of my new favorite duets. I highly recommend this book.

And the series continues.

The fact that he collect wives not harems. That the wives he and his compnion beasts all work together as a team. Even on earth at his home orwhen they are in one of the fantasy worlds towns or villages the group is works together and respect each other.
I also like and appreciate that his comnion animals get along and that shadow leopard is helping the Dire Wolf to communicate better.
Too there is not a graphic bunch of sex scenes every other chapter. rather some innuendo that let's your mind do the conjuring.
Great if graphic fight scenes and if the hero screws up there are consequences for their actions..
For mee a must have audible book.

Underwhelming and nonsensical

Picked up the second book because the glowing reviews had me convinced things would improve, and I was interested enough to give it a chance. Not the case, unfortunately.

The main character continues to be treated like some kind of genius for having the most heroic ideas. At one point, he stunned people into silence by introducing the concept of... Wait for it... Assembling groups with an eye for basic strategy. Yes, the world whose entire economy revolves around adventuring (and has since time immemorial) has no concept of basic group roles like tanks and dps. In stark contrast to, e.g., He Who Fights With Monsters, where a world of adventurers has a number of different training options and strategic traditions because it's literally life and death, for the entire population, the world of Montaria is populated entirely by idiots? And this is somehow the main character's claim to fame? What?

There's a number of things like this that just don't track at all. It's like Jack is the only one capable of thinking in the entire world, and he's honestly not very good at it. Relatively minimal kindness is all it takes to get a woman to effectively marry him. The characters are pretty thin, and mostly exist to be shocked at how amazing Jack and his ideas are (and to exclaim over how great he is in bed).

The story is also a slice of life with no tangible conflict or danger. One's threats can't be taken seriously at this point. It's only at the very end of this second book that the vague possibility of some kind of plot begins to show up.

I genuinely don't understand why this is so well reviewed. This is not remotely a five star series.
