Publisher's Summary

What happens when you fall for your best friend, but they fall in love with someone else? Nothing is what it seems in this unrequited-love new-adult romance.

Miles knew Nessa never had eyes for him. Only when someone new tries to hurt her, he knows he can’t stand back any longer. It’s time she finds out the man he is behind the glasses and beneath the shell he wrapped himself in.

But now he has to hope that once she sees the real him, she’ll stay. Because he doesn’t want to let go, even if someone else tries to make that choice for them both.

Amazing story

Omg I loved reading Miles and Nessa story. It was super fun and I didn't want it to end. I think this is one of those books I got a hangover and it's in a good way. This book was so fun.

Narrators did an amazing job with this one. Kept me entertained from beginning to end. I really enjoyed listening to this.

Nessa and Miles

This is the third book in the On My Own Series, and although it's always best to listen/read these books in order each story is good enough that it can be appreciated as a stand-alone story. This time it's the turn of Nessa and Miles, friends who are both attracted to each other but who are both in denial and neither know that they are not alone in their feelings for the other.

Nessa denies her feelings for Miles because she made the mistake of thinking that the crush she had for her best friend Pacey was actually love and because everyone, with the exception of Pacey, knew how she felt she's embarrassed and hesitant to believe her feelings for Miles could be the real thing whilst Miles doesn't act on his feelings because he thinks Nessa is still pining for Pacey.

I adored Miles, he's somewhat broken due to the death of his twin and his parent's behaviour towards him since her death. He's brainy, a little geeky, wears glasses but that's where the comparison to a nerd ends, He's handsome, strong and ripped and seriously into Nessa something she's oblivious to. They shared a kiss a year ago, Miles thought it was only because she was drunk but it wasn't, yes she had drunk too much but she knew what she was doing. So for their own reasons neither has ever mentioned "the kiss" and both have pretended it didn't happen. It's really a case of so much angst and hurt that could have been avoided if they had just sat down and talked!

Now they are both in their final semesters of college, with lots happening in their lives, will they talk, admit their feelings and be together? Obviously, the author has given them both challenges to face, none of which I'm even going to hint at, will they overcome them and build a future together?

There are parts to their stories that really affected me, they both deserve so much but their journey to their HEA does, in fact, make them both stronger and brings them closer together.

The narration of this book is excellent, Stephen Dexter and Emma Wilder work so well together and bring each character to life beautifully.

I received this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

Loved it! So many feels!

I recently had the opportunity to listen to My Next Play by Carrie Ann Ryan and I loved it! Narrated by Stephen Dexter and Emma Wilder, they truly brought to life this sweet, charming, and emotional friends to lovers story. Miles has always noticed Nessa, but she never really saw him, until now. When she needs help, he is there for her. They each had issues they were working through separately that affected who they are. As friends, they learn to lean on each other and soon become more. Could they find what they were always looking for? I am loving this series! This is a great read and/or listen!

Happy listening!

Enjoyed

This is the third book in the On My Own series, and it’s Miles & Nessa’s story. They’ve been friends for awhile, but for Miles it’s been more. There have been moments, but it didn’t turn into much. Until it did. I enjoyed their story, and this series, and I can’t wait for the next one. Stephen Dexter is a new to me narrator, but I very much enjoyed listening to his voice. And Emma Wilder, as always, does a great job

Loved it cant wait for the next in the series

Nessa and Miles

The 3rd book in this series, I am loving the young adult theme. The roommates falling for each other is like catnip. The way their romances differ make this book a page turner.

Nessa has a crush on Pacey in the last book. Well it is her turn to fall in love. The chemistry between the two is off the charts, there is a little suspense, and also some everyday issues. Cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Miles and Nessa are great

Miles and Nessa are friends and also have the same close group of friends. Miles has liked her for a while but thought since she liked their friend Pacey he didn’t have a chance. Nessa after her crush on Pacey doesn’t go the way she originally hoped doesn’t want to date in the same circle of friends. She feels a pull for Miles but doesn’t want to act one it. As they are getting closer to their final time in college they both know they are going to go to grad school and that most likely won’t be anywhere near each other. Nessa is also worried about being able to pay for school and helping out her father. A decision in Miles’ past has led to a strained relationship with his parents and it is a secret he keeps from everyone including his friends. These two decide to live in the moment together but soon feelings start to get in the way. I really liked these two together and think their personality go well together. A very enjoyable read and lots of steamy moments as well. The narrators did a great job with the characters and I enjoyed them both.

My Next Play

Nessa always seems to be on the wrong end when it comes to men and now, she is looking at Miles. Nessa knows he is not for her, but her heart wants what it wants. When She needs a knight in shining armor Miles is there for her, but will Nessa let him in, and can he find a way to stay?

Miles and Nessa’s story is full of drama and a lot of self-depreciation. It is slow moving and there is a lot of hints towards what the bad guy is doing but that part of the story fell short with me, and I felt it needed more fleshing out. Nessa and Miles make a nice couple, but their personalities and the continuation of their whining became irritating as the story goes on. It was nice to see the trust and the relationship grow when it did. Giving the characters something to fight for. Narrators Stephen Dexter and Emma Wilder did a nice job with keeping the narrative flowing nicely.

My Next Play

My Next Play by Carrie Ann Ryan (On My Own #3)... 3 Maple Leafs

“I want to be by your side as we figure out the mess that is our lives.”

Miles has always been know as the quiet and nerdy roommate. After a car accident took his sister's life, he has buried himself in school work. Miles has crushed on Nessa all through college but never thought he was good enough for her.

Nessa is finally starting to get back to normal after her best friend she was crushing on fell for her other friend. She finds herself crushing on Miles, one of the other roommates, but keeps telling herself she can not fall for another roommate.

After Nessa goes on a couple of dates that don't go well but the guy does not get the message and tries to hurt her, Miles knows he just can not stand in the background anymore. Miles and Nessa start spending more time together studying which eventually leads to more but someone else has plans to keep them apart.

I hate writing reviews like this but I struggled with this book right from the beginning. Between all of the insecurities and the constant woe is me feeling from both Miles and Nessa, I was surprised I actually finished the book. I did feel sorry for Miles and what he went through just before college. Once Miles and Nessa finally came together, their chemistry was off the charts.

Stephen Dexter and Emma Wilder did do a good job of narrating the book and bringing the story to life.

Friends to Lovers!

Miles has been attracted to Nessa for sometime. Nessa had a crush on his friend and roommate, Pacey, however he only viewed her as his best friend. When Nessa got drunk at one of Miles' house parties, she kissed him. Neither brought it up the days that followed until a guy Nessa went out on a few dates with, attached her and Miles came to her rescue. This was the turning point in their friends with benefits relationship; it became more than either had planned on.

Miles and Nessa have issues with a tragic family loss, financial burdens as well as future plans that they must navigate to find their HEA. A great friends to lovers story by Carrie Ann Ryan. Great narration by Stephen Dexter and Emma Wilder.

Cannot wait for next in series

Book 3 in On My Own series by Carrie Ann Ryan narrated by Stephen Dexter and Emma Wilder.
This book is about Nessa and miles both original characters and all the other books in the series and it carries on from the previous book. So in the previous book Nessa eventually tells Pacey that She loves him but thankfully it does work itself out a little bit and Nessa Realises that it she’s not in love with him but the idea of it and family in this book seems to get over it very quickly and starts a very slow burning relationship with miles. Really love how everything built them between them especially with the fact that Miles clearly had a thing for Nessa in the previous book especially when he was about to beat up Pacey for his part in breaking heart.
Also with Carrie Ann Ryan but she always have a element of torture a little bit and some miles his was quite distinctive but I did feel that it was overdone maybe a little bit yes what happened to him was awful and he could say that he might of had a play part to play in it personally I think maybes whole family need to go to therapy instead of just blaming Miles so this did get a little bit old for me especially as it was re-done over and over and over again Through the story eventually thankfully did come to a conclusion at the end of the book and hopefully we can move on from his torture or his faults as he felt he had. This is the first time I’ve listened to Stephen Dexter as a narrator didn’t like him and he did try and pull off a British accent but not very well personally mostly to do with the fact that if the original Pacey in the books was narrated by Shane East who is a fantastic British narrator very drool worthy. Emma Wilder is actually one of my favourite female narrators and to be honest could probably pulled this book off on the road was nice to have a mail in there I just wish that they would do it as a dual narration I think it’s called when one reads guys I’m en route to females but I quite like that but to be honest Emma Wilder is absolutely amazing as the narrator.
Absolutely loved the epilogue Cannot wait for the next book in the series absolutely love Carrie Ann Ryan I love that she writes a lot of genres just finished her new witch series and it is amazing.

Love for Miles…

Miles is a the hot nerd who in the group who doesn’t date. He is too busy with his classes and carries a secret that won’t let him be happy. Nessa was crushed when his best friend found his girl. Now she finds herself attached to Miles, and doubting if it will be the same as his last crush. I felt for Miles and the survivor guilt he had to carry, plus his way too strict and sometimes cruel parents. But he and Nessa will find their way, with a bit of suspense and a stalker case in their way. Great voices for this dual narration.

So good

This was brilliant. As soon as it finished I wanted to jump back into it again. The characters were so well developed and I loved the growth that they went through was beautiful. I loved the narration as I found it really highlighted their emotions and gave them so much depth.

I could not recommend this one more
