Publisher's summary

It's Valentine's Day and Rachel Price has a choice: Stay home and watch TV with her loveable doggy or let her best friend, Ellen, set her up on a blind date. What to do....

Ellen says the guy is a "10", but the last guy she set her up with was a "5". Rachel's been flirting with coworker Noah Peterson and she's hoping he's noticed. Then, she finds out Noah has big plans. Even worse, he advises Rachel to go on the blind date!

Should she play it safe and spend the Hallmark holiday with her loyal pooch, Chester, or risk another dating disaster by trying yet again for love?

Short and flirty romance

If you could sum up My Last Blind Date in three words, what would they be?

Short sweet romance

What was one of the most memorable moments of My Last Blind Date?

When Rachel walks into the restaurant and sees Noah sitting at the table as her blind date. She was so thrilled and overwhelmed that the man she had been crushing on was actually meeting her for dinner on Valentine's Day.

Which character – as performed by Martha Lee – was your favorite?

Ellen, Rachel's friend, because Ellen takes charge and doesn't take "no" for an answer. Martha Lee did Ellen's voice perfectly for the listener to understand that Ellen was definitely a Type A personality.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

At the end, when Rachel and Noah are on her couch. Rachel had just hung up from talking on the phone to her ex-boyfriend. Noah was supportive and not jealous. He made it clear that he was glad that Rachel had chosen him.

Adorable Quickie!

Super quick short story. This is about Ellen's friend Rachel, the one with the cute little beagle. Fun little Valentine'd Day blind date tale. Not a lot of depth in the relationship, really just the first blush of something that could be special.

The whole book is from Rachel's POV, which limits how the reader seeing events. You only have her perspective to work from. Fortunately there are plenty of cues that you can pick up on to give you the bigger picture.

It is all sweet, a light flirtation but it never gets to the bedroom stage.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Martha Lee, who does a great job. She has a soothing mature tone to her read but is still able to bring out the lightness in the banter. I really liked her voices and how distinct she keeps them. I really enjoy the energy she creates with her voice it makes the story flow.

I am excited to have found this series. I love a tasty little treat every now and again!!

fab conclusion to the series

Where does My Last Blind Date rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is up there at the top. The one thing I don't like, like with a book, is when the audio is slow to get interested in. All of the audios in this series were so enjoyable to listen to.

What was one of the most memorable moments of My Last Blind Date?

For me, it was when Rachel goes on the blind date expecting the guy that Ellen set her up with and instead it is Noah waiting for her at the table.

Which character – as performed by Martha Lee – was your favorite?

Rachel was my favorite.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

In the latest edition of Truth or Date, meet Rachel and Noah, who are destined to be together.

Noah he is just cool and smooth Martha makes him seem more real and smooth. She gives nothing away.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It is a very short listen about an hour so yes.

Any additional comments?

A very short little read to remind us life can bring unexpected surprises. It was a charming little read that shows us sometimes blind dates are the very best surprises we could have. That is about all I can say without giving the book away. It was well written with a lovely story.

I have totally enjoyed this whole series I have read and listen to each book, I find them to be an outstanding whether you listen or read. Susan is a wonderful author that puts a lot of emotion in each book, she gives you wonderful characters that you can relate to. The narrator has a smooth mature tone, she puts a lot of emotion to the books. You can hear the humor in her tone and have to chuckle when she adds her sassy voice. Both the author and the narrator make the read flow smoothly in an easy flow way before you know it you are caught up in the book. I really recommend any of Susan's books whether the e-books or the audios. I am sure you won't be disappointed.

A Piece of Your Favorite Chocolate

"Life is a box of chocolates," Forrest Gump shared with us. Well Susan Hatler's books are a box of multi-flavored truffles (my favorites) so you DO know what you are going to get--a light-hearted look at the horrors of dating in this "Better Date than Never" series. They are intertwined to the extent that the main characters from one story play roles in others but each is standalone and as short and sweet as your favorite piece from the box.

I had the added enjoyment of listening to the AUDIO. Narrator Martha Lee has the perfect voice for narrating this first person bad luck with blind dates comedy. Quick and fun, giving reason to hope no matter how ugly the dating world can seem.
